As cocaine is a stimulant, if can be used during the fight to increase energy and numb pain, or during training. Aaron Pryor was accused of using cocaine in the ring.

Firstly, every other person is blaming Fury for Parker's vices. It's laughable. This has nothing to do with Fury. Stop defending your little pet fake 'gentleman of the sport' by shifting blame.

Let's get it right. Fury took coke during the Wlad II run up when he didn't want to box anymore and was skipping training etc. It's not good. But he didn't take it during a fight or in a lead up to his chance of fighting for all the belts etc. This is completely different to what Parker just did.

Also if Parker took it on the day of the fight, it becomes a PED. Increases alertness, energy, euphoria, pain submission etc. It's cheating.

He was always a fake nice guy and 'good sportsman' and now hopefully we can put that garbage to bed.

As for the other accusation about his links to 'underworld', there are very obvious political reasons why he would be let off. If you know anything about politics in 'The West', including in the colonies, you know that certain demographics are protected as much as possible, especially when they become idols and icons used to promote their demos, in this case the celebrated original population of NZ. Parker fits that bill exactly. Whether or not he was guilty, it's hard to say, but the chances are they went easy on him for the reasons stated because it's pretty hard to be accidentally linked to a criminal underworld, isn't it?

Honestly I think it would be harder to find a pro athlete at his level that isn’t on something.

Boxing has definitely got a PED problem.

Fury had a suspension involving PEDs if I recall correctly, and "retired" in part to keep it under wraps.

Cocaine isn't a PED, and there's no evidence he used it on the day of his fight. Being high profile doesn't protect you in New Zealand either. If they had a case, the police would have pursued it. Anything else is speculation.

It's a stupid move by Parker and has likely cost him his career. We'll see what the B sample says, and if it's true then best make way for others to keep the sport going.

I've heard it said that the 70's heavyweights were on it.

Anyone else picture Parker doing lines with Luke Tyson Fury the day before the fight and getting carried away? The nose candy is hardly going to swing the fight but the other PEDs he was probably on have improved his level. Still not enough to beat Wardley though.

I don't believe it, they set Parker up to remove him from the boxing scene...

Stimulants are not illegal. I'm sure most fighters use some sort before fights.

oh god here comes the conspiracy theories. who are the nameless 'they' in this scenerio? Parker is one of the bigger/more liked fighters in heavyweight right now. coming in with a bad game plan and dropping the ball majorly losing to wardley coked up set himself up to be removed from the boxing scene.

Worth noting after that wardley fight i think Parker's contract with queensberry is done so if any promoter wanted to freeze him out of any future big fights they could easily. No longer a mandatory either. No need to set him up for taking coke of all things.

It's convenient for certain people, especially concerning his case for a Wardley rematch.
