    Trinidad versus a punching bag.

But that punching bag had the courage and resistance of a US MArine!

Manny Pacquaio vs Timothy Bradley II.

Overall I thought the 2nd fight was probably the most competitive of the trilogy they had. Bradley was undefeated and had a great performance against Marquez so his confidence was sky high leading into the rematch. Pacquaio looked like the Pac of old and showcased the speed and power he was known for. Bradley fought courageous but came up short.

    116-112 Manny Pacquaio

    Pac Rounds: 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12
    Bradley rounds: 1, 4, 5, 11

They had boxing at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum today and 30 people showed up! LOL A far cry from the days in which Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Azumah Nelson, George Foreman and Alexis Arguello (at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium, next to the Clemente) came to fight NON Puerto Ricans and the stadium was still filled to the top!

But , about the fight, without giving too much detail away, what a finish!!

When this fight was live on HBO, I had to go meet Tony Bennett to try to get his autograph after a show in my city. After the second round, I left, content that Barrera was on his way to an easy win because of the first round "knockdown".

When I arrived at the theater, I was surprised by a Mexican-American lady who was also an autograph hunter. Boy, was I surprised to learn from her that Barrera got knocked out!

And, I did not get Bennett's autograph. No one did. ...

I had it a bit wider. This is how I saw it...

Evander Holyfield v Riddick Bowe I (heavyweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Holyfield
    Round 2: 10-10 Even
    Round 3: 10-9 Bowe
    Round 4: 10-9 Bowe
    Round 5: 10-9 Holyfield
    Round 6: 10-10 Even
    Round 7: 10-9 Bowe
    Round 8: 10-9 Holyfield
    Round 9: 10-9 Bowe
    Round 10: 10-9 Bowe
    Round 11: 10-8 Bowe (scores a knockdown)
    Round 12: 10-9 Bowe

Total: 117-112 Bowe (actual scores: 115-112, 117-110 and another 117-110 all for Bowe)

I was really hyped up back in the day for this one, cheering everything Holyfield threw. His punches were so jolting throughout this bout I thought he was going to take Riddick out. But Bowe was made of stern stuff too and was the busier of the two. They both gave us some brilliant exchanges. Excellent fight.
