What percentage chance do you think Fernando Daniel Martinez has of beating Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez? Because I feel that Fernando Daniel Martinez has had too many wars in a short period of time: two fights against Jerwin Ancajas, the fight against Jade Bornea, and the two fights against Kazuto Ioka. In the second fight against Kazuto Ioka, I thought he was showing serious signs of decline—slower punch output, reduced endurance, and above all, his chin finally cracked and he was knocked down for the first time in his career. On the opposite Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez is overrated a lot but he beat only old boxers who passed their primes : Cuadras, Guevara, Juan Francisco Estrada, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai... He also beat a depressive but passed his prime too Sunny Edwards. His only real win is Phumelela Cafu a little champion and this guy was champion because he have a gift decision against Kosei Tanaka who can't not see from his right eyes since 2021... He ducked Junto Nakatani because he returned in Flyweight when the Japanese Big Bang want to unify at 115 lbs against him.
I've always seen this as a 50/50 fight. Bam should've lost to Israel Gonzalez, and the vast majority of his wins have been against old shot has beens. Martinez will by far be the best guy he's shared the ring with, and for what it's worth, I wouldn't be shocked if Ioka beat Bam too.
I'm totally agree Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez is totally overrated but he take all of his opponent at the good moment. And Strangely, he fights Fernando Daniel Martinez just after Pumita is already showing signs of decline.
20-30% I always thought Ioka was massively overrated. He was solid but not this ATG level talent some people tried to make him out to be. In another division he might not even be world champ.
Precisely, but I think it's more of a case of Ioka being a bad style for Pumita more than anything. So it's probably a miscalculation.
Ioka is one of the best counter punched at 115 lbs... he is not overrated at all. He beat many good boxers in his prime and two four weight classes world champions in his record : Donnie Nietes & Kosei Tanaka ! (And a prime Kosei Tanaka).
10%. miracles do happen. bam is the most complete fighter in boxing today. and puma, well, isnt close to that. the goal post will need to be moved again after next saturday. and it will need to keep moving till only inoue is left.
Inoue or Nakatani both work, both have been mentioned in the past as the top guys in that range of weight divisions and if he beats either he will get plenty of credit. Bam is an excellent fighter and the best of the rest in my opinion, but think he would have a very tough time against any of those guys in their prime (SSR/Cuadras/Estrada/Puma/Ioka/Chocolatito etc.), he'll likely beat Puma but just facing off against all these guys out of their primes/after brutal fights just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I will give him credit for beating Sunny Edwards and Cafu though, those are probably the best wins on his record.
i was going to mention junto, but i figured inoue would get to nakatani first, so that would move their goal post automatically. he is beating the old guys, young guys, prime guys, all the same way. like they dont belong in the same lane. because, as i said, he is the most complete fighter in boxing today. i remember what they say about fighters like puma before bam signs to fight them, and how they start to shrink the closer the fight gets. thats not gonna change, cause its not based on boxing.
