The fight with Paul has nothing to do with what kind of champion Joshua was in the past. NOTHING.
What does it prove, though, and what will have to be accepted as fact? The fact that the defeat to Dubois likely completely broke this very good boxer and destroyed all his and his team's sporting ambitions.
The fight with Paul is a safe bet to earn a huge amount of money and a waiting game, so they can eventually expose him to someone more serious after a good victory.
I still think that both Hearn and Joshua are waiting for Fury, who doesn't care about their plans.
Why not earn tens of millions for a showdown along the way?
I don't support such fights; I'm not interested in scripted boxing, but if someone is paying for it, I'm clearly in the minority.
The Fury vs. Ngannou fight was more distasteful to me because Tyson was the champion at the time, and that already means you have obligations. Joshua has none now. He's been sidelined for almost a year after the defeat and no one has the right to demand anything from him.

this. Fury tarnished the sport with his poor showing against Ngannou. AJ defended the honor of the sport against Ngannou. If he wants to do that again against Jake Paul, I’m all for it.

    Fury almost lost against Ngannou.

That was the worst any high profile boxer did in this context. And afterwards there were excuses where he apparently didn't train correctly. After making it all about mma vs boxing and the integrity of the sport etc the way fury tends to self promote...

    Joshua put that right.

And while in their prime I very much preferred Fury, I have to say that is one achievement for boxing where he cleaned up fury's mess.

If he fights Paul, I agree with the above - no serious fight fan can take that seriously.

I can’t stand AJ but if he rids us of Jake Paul I will be forever grateful. Honestly Fury is the bigger disgrace he arguably lost to Ngannou where AJ shattered his Glass Jaw in brutal fashion.

Jake is a businessman and knows what his followers want to see.

Surely not how he gets ko,d first round and you can expect the fight will not go that way .

If this fight really happens i,m really interested how they "play it out" .

Everybody knows that jake paul has zero chances against AJ up to the point a brutal first round KO is pretty obvious.

Anything else would make it finally clear that AJ carries him on a circus show sold as a real bout.

Up to what point ? Jake paul winning and usyk deciding to fight nobody but him for a world title ?

I have no phantasy how they plan to perform this fight where paul does not leave the ring ambulance and simulaty not everybody knowing it was a fake .

Ngannou has shown dignity refusing to fight paul .

If the fight is on the up and up, he won't get seriously injured because he won't be around to take a prolonged beating. He gets sparked in a round like Ngannou did but he doesn't get up after the first knockdown.

AJ could possibly have sparked Lennox Lewis in the 90s. McCall and Rahman did it.

Detached retinas, broken orbital bones, and severe concussion, are all serious enough for me, and could all happen in one landed bomb from AJ. Something to keep in mind about Jake getting punched flush by AJ, is Jakes not a natural heavyweight and also doesnt have a proven chin at higher level boxing.... his skull wont necessarily be as sturdy to damage as the genuinely larger men with proven boxing sturdiness.

But I get what youre saying in terms of any life threatening injuries, ya he likely wouldnt be around long enough for that.

You're forgetting the fact that it's not a real fight, it's an exhibition fight.

I am not at all convinced that a fight between AJ and Jake Paul is actually going to happen this year. Here is the thing: AJ has not actually boxed, anyone, in over a year, and he looked awful in his last fight against Dubois. AJ's manager, Eddie Hearn, wants people to keep talking about AJ so he remains relevant, and still command big bucks whenever he re-starts his boxing career--so he hypes up fights that are "just about" to happen, but never do, just to keep AJ's name in the limelight. It's a weak strategy, sooner or later AJ will have to fight, against someone credible, and win, or people will just write him off and forget about him.

Your forgetting the fact that what you said isn't a fact
