UFC 323: Della Maddalena vs. Makhachev Discussion Thread

I dont normally mind grappling, Im always defending merab and chimaev, but man this seems extra dull for some reason.

 

I like Islam but I don't believe anyone genuinely enjoys watching someone lay and pray on top of their opponent for 5 rounds inflicting minimal damage.

 

I was hoping to see two men swinging not dry humping each other. It's bloody 6am over here for goodness sake

I don't usually complain about grappling but I was really looking forward to this fight and I was hoping we would see some good stand up in between the grappling and not as much grappling. I know that's how Islam fights but that style of fighting feels like it's becoming too common in the sport and, as said, I don't believe anyone genuinely enjoys watching it and especially compared to a good old stand up war.

 

It's a shame Mak is so much bigger than Ilia because Ilia might be able to counter his wrestling if not. Both are good trash talkers and have amusing villain energy so the build up would be fun to watch. Maybe Khamzat vs Mak instead
