To many umu’s at the Fury residence.

    That’s very disappointing if confirmed.

And dumb. We get drug tested at work and a few of the younger boys have an encyclopaedic knowledge of how long drugs stay in your system. I’m like lads if you put half the effort you put into researching that **** into something productive you could be chemical engineers, not labouring in tunnels lol.
But I digress…sounds like the old nosè rosè gets out of your system pretty quickly, so if you are popping dirty for that you must have just had a bender like 3 days before.

Its shameful how little acknowledgement Jai gets in his home country and good to see him getting the respect he deserves here.

its a problem with the Australian mainstream media's knowledge of boxing - half the time it is a bit of side reporting for NRL journos, probably why No Limit gets heavy media due to their links to NRL

It’s entirely to do with which company owns the newspapers and the TV channel they appear on.

Jai is fighting on Stan which is owned by Channel Nein. Channel Nein also owns the Fairfax print media so there is no reason why the likes of Jai & Justis (& Teremoana) shouldn't be getting plenty of media coverage for their upcoming fights. Actually, I just cancelled my Sydney Morning Herald subscription due to their lack of boxing coverage so hopefully they pull their socks up now that they've got some decent fighters to write about. The last boxing article I read on Channel Nein was about the upcoming Nikita Tszyu v Magic Mike fight in which they were gloating that the Tszyu gravy train was about to run off the rails. Seriously, what about an article or three on your own guys?

Anyone reckon that Nikita could beat Conor Benn? I wouldn't count him out but I guess the Zerafa fight will answer a lot of questions.

Boxing coverage is poor in Australia because it isn't profitable to be involved in. Coverage of boxing doesn't rate well, it doesn't make people tune in to the news and it doesn't sell papers. There's far easier money to be made in other things.

A quiet, well mannered guy like Jai Opetaia could win every belt in every division and not get much coverage. The only thing that gets the wheels turning here is fierce rivalries between guys with big personalities.

Good performance overnight from Lachlan Lawson at the World Boxing Cup in India. Lost a UD to the Uzbek but was in it all the way. Clearly had the better of the second half of round 1 & all of round 3. The judges pulled their usual stunt of automatically scoring to the Uzbek but Lawson really put it to him. Did a good job against another Uzbek at the World Championships in September also. The scoring of these fights must be discouraging for our blokes but he should definitely stick with it b/c his performance was first rate. Very tough & uncompromising in style. Marlon Sevehon scored a good win yesterday against his Ukrainian opponent. Those Eastern Block / Central Asian types don't like losing to our guys, that's for sure. Selection at Light Heavy for the Commonwealth games will be interesting. There's no Middleweight or Cruiserweight divisions at the Commonwealth games meaning there could be a logjam of selection options at Light Heavy. Marlon Sevehon has been a good performer at international level, while I suspect Lachlan Lawson may want to come down in weight to Light Heavy rather than move up to Heavyweight. Add in Callum Peters if he's intending to fight at the Commonwealth games & three into one doesn't go. Potentially the same situation applies at Bantamweight given there will be no flyweight or featherweight division contested at the Commonwealth games. They are intending to hold a 'round-robin' style selection event for the Comm Games rather than a 'winner takes all' tournament to decide the places. In saying that, whoever 'wins all' is likely to be the one who will be going.
