Joshua’s opponent was set to be Cassius Chaney before this was announced. 38 and coming off a loss to Michael Hunter.

I don't know what the deal is, but they're going to make sure Fury vs AJ can be arranged this summer.

A cautious guess would be that AJ carries him through the 8 rounds ?

By the way : Try to notice how many promoters, including Frank Warren, who thinks Jake Paul is going to win.

Is it just a coincidence ?

It's all getting too convenient for me.

Fury is filming his Netflix show just now. This has been touted as one reason he's been inactive. Wouldn't it be convenient for him to turn up at a Netflix show headlined by his arch-rival?

An arch-rival whose mouthy promoter just had a documentary on... Netflix?

With the whole thing underwritten by Saudi who have shows on... Netflix?

Hearn has been dropping too many hints this past week and given he can't keep his mouth shut, some kind of contrived Fury entrance to the AJ-Paul show wouldn't surprise me one iota. Paul is daft enough to go along with it.

Zero interest in Fury v Joshua now. They had years and years to make it. Now they’re both old, inactive and been beaten multiple times they expect everyone to fund their final retirement payday.

Warren does not think Paul is going to win. He makes that very clear in his IFL interview.

You realise that it’s not normal behaviour to post such crap right?

If so he is totally finished mentally and simply grabbing as much loot as possible before he sails off to live in Dubai laughing with Hearn at how they pulled off such a heist without an elite trait in his body.

The whole thing already feels more scripted than a WWE pre-show. If they think it’ll shift an extra few hundred thousand eyeballs, they’ll absolutely do it.

It’s a shame really, because even after the Dubois and Usyk defeats for AJ and Tyson, there was still some skin in the game for their fight. Now it’s drifting into Brook–Khan territory. But the casuals will lap it up if Fury pops up like the Undertaker during Paul vs Joshua – he might even end up squaring off with Logan and KSI for a bit of pantomime on the side.

Totally. And I'm not going to lie, I'd kind of enjoy if it plays out like that, but it belongs on Netflix and not a serious sports network.

I've no doubt if it leads to a Fury-AJ match proper, they'll take that as seriously as any fight they've had - but Fury's no stranger to reality TV, WWE, etc and it just shows how far Joshua has gone. I've already seen a couple of people say "AJ does great community work, this is more money he can spend on it". He's hardly George Foreman boxing at 45 to save a youth club.

Lets be honest AJ gets ridiculed for this fight going past 3 rounds. And if he struggles against Paul, he could take a hit financially against fury.

The only people taking a hit for a Joshua v Fury past sell by date fight for years are the paying public.

Not the total the fight brings in but his split could be affected.

You say it's past it's sell by date...but there is zero way you don't watch that fight. So the food maybe be degrading but as far as your concerned it ain't past it's sell by date.

Night Shift - home about 0830. Netflix on, with no idea of the result. Except inside my head!

PNE v Norwich at 1230pm - live on SKY for those arsed. I'll be at Deepdale living on fumes! A couple of cheeky drinks at mine pre-match.

    1730 - 1930 - kip.

Then up for the Callum Simpson card.

    Magic!

It’s just a poor man’s Mayweather v Pacquiao really. It’ll happen in the end, but four or five years (at least) past when it would have been meaningful and really mattered.

Few years back it could’ve decided who was the best heavyweight in the world, but now just a bit of a circus fight between two fighters way past their best just there for a massive pile of Saudi loot. And there’s no consequence or jeopardy to it now like there would have been before. Nobody is going to think any more or less of AJ or Fury for winning or losing - their legacies will be what they will be.

I’ll watch it if it happens, but I watch all sorts of shite in the name of boxing. Won’t pay though, and couldn’t care less at this stage whether it happens or not. The moment has gone.
