AJ changes trainer every week, now he confirmed at the press conference that he’s training with Team Usyk and that Igor will be the head trainer for the fight with Paul.
AJ's ring IQ is severely lacking. He decided to trade up close with Ruiz jr. who has T-rex arms by comparison. Then he had the brilliant game plan of trying to out box the grandmaster boxer in Usyk. Learning nothing from his losses he hurt Dubois, got close and then decided to throw an uppercut out of position at the wrong range getting himself sparked out. As good as Usyks trainer is I'm not sure at AJ's age he can fix ego or stupidity.
It seems an odd choice to go to a trainer that I presume came from the Soviet system. Joshua is too muscle-bound and stiff to try and do what Usyk does, especially over 12 rounds. In my opinion he is too old for a radical change, and would have preferred if he came full circle and went back to Rob McCracken for the final stage of his career. Saying that, I wish him all the best. The Dubious match and knockout was brutal for him, fair play for wanting to get back in the ring.
In perhaps the biggest sellout in boxing history, a former world heavyweight champion agrees to fight an undersized, Youtuber and needs a new trainer for it? Hilarious!
AJ is perfect for the soviet system, have you not seen the documentary about the American boxer who fought the russian monster to avenge his friends death?
This fight was always on table aj never wanted Fury. Jacob Paul is the biggest fight of joshuas career and he has no confidence so he sacked his team again
Fury still has Ngannou problems. Has no business fighting anyone celebrities or MMA fighters until he gives Ngannou his rightful rematch.
I wasn’t aware that was out there. He should have taken it. Similar physical molds, similar physical gifts, etc. Even for fight plans, Lewis could just look at it as “how would I fight this guy?”
