For me, it will depend on the outcome. At this point I just accept Paul as a boxer, he's been doing it long enough. Just he is one whose fame outside the ring far far outstrips his talent in it. Personally I have never sat down and watched any of his fights - no interest.

    (1) If Joshua treats him like any other low level tune up opponent, maybe gets a few rounds in, then stops him...fair enough. It is just the idea of it being Paul (a youtuber) that will annoy people - but he is getting the same treatment as any other boxer (albeit for a massive pay day).

    (2) BUT if Joshua allows Paul to see the final bell then, yeah that will definitely be the biggest sell out fight, as it is legitimising Paul to be something he is not.
Daggers will rightly come out then, and personally I think he must know this.

I expect (1). (2) Would be almost a comical level of selling out

Option (3) Paul stops Joshua... Time to roll down the shutters on boxing. Joshua would live on in infamy

I've got $10 on AJ winning inside the first minute at 6/1 odds. AJ should be able to walk him down without issue

Well, he's getting paid a good sum of money. He isn't holding a belt and freezing a more worthy opponent out while fighting YouTubers. So, as long as he destroys Paul within a few dominate rounds, I'll be fine with it.

I dislike Paul and what he do in boxing but he do have pro record (weird but he does) and after he have won against a bunch of old none boxers I’m happy he’s actually fighting a live opponent.

Let’s see how this plays out, if AJ destroys Paul right away I’m ok with the fight but if he carries Paul for a few rounds or let it go to a decision AJ will be the biggest sell out in any sport!

"Belly" Fury taking on Ngannou was worse, especially since he did it to avoid Usyk. He deserved to lose but was bailed out by dodgy judges. And Belly was a world titleholder at the time.

Joshua is coming off a KO loss, hasn't fought in over a year. He needs a warm-up fight, and this is the opponent who will bring him the most revenue. The fight makes sense for AJ.

Archie Moore fought the debuting Mike Dibiase (pro wrestler) in his final bout.

He did it to put an end to wrestlers thinking they could step into the ring with pro boxers.

Maybe AJ could have a similar effect on the influx of social media personalities...

In any case, boxing history has a lot of insane matchups. Local tough guys fighting legit world level competitors and whatnot.

This all kinda feels like karma anyway. Paul was fighting a lot of older smaller guys from another sport, or elderly, or attempts to fight massively undersized opponents. He gets to be on the other end for a change.

Something that some people seem to be forgetting is that Jake Paul looked absolutely awful in that Mile Tyson farce.
Tyson should’ve been nowhere near a ring that night, and yeah Paul maybe carried him, but man did he look one dimensional.
If he boxes anything LIKE that against any decent heavyweight he gets knocked silly. And in short measure

    That is true also.
I mean, fair play to the guy - he is prepared to get in the ring and fight. And he tends to over perform what people expect of him.

but let’s not get it twisted, if he were a “regular” pro, at prospect level, these performances would be seen as deeply disappointing. That fight against that loudmouth, undersized MMA guy was absolutely shockingly poor quality.

I cannot understand the logic behind this Joshua fight. Paul may be “winning”, but he has never looked consistently good in a fight.

I think it comes down simply to money, really.

This is the biggest fight Jake could ever get in boxing aside from Canelo, and for AJ he sees it as another easy money fight ala Ngannou.
