The customer base has grown massively though, enough to cope with those losses , absolutely not. I do think the current offering ultimate or whatever its called is pretty good value in my opinion, have all their offerings been good value , no, but I think this one is good for boxing fans, if the schedule drops off then of course that could change. Maybe their biggest mistake was entering the market at £1.99 a month or whatever it was at the beginning. I have worked in similar ventures in the industry and seen 100's of 'Freemium' and 'Free To Buy/Play' business models fall by the wayside because it is almost impossible to convert a customer who was acquired via a free or in this case very cheap marketing model into a full paying customer for a similar product, these are the first customers to jump ship so to speak when the prices rise, they are what they are though and DAZN will know this by now. I'm not disputing customer satisfaction issues etc so I get people's hang ups about stuff like that.
Their subscription model always seems to be aimed at getting advanced payments from customers, trying to convince people to pay a year in advance for an unreleased schedule. Smells of desperation and an urgent need to claw back money.
Quite funny Went onto DAZN to see if there are any offers for the card this weekend. The link they send, my chrome browser refuses to open it due to security risks on the link. Also 8.55pm the card starts ffs, what time is the Yarde fight on then!?!?
My 12 month offer just ran out yesterday I won't be renewing or paying more for the ultimate . You know exactly what they will do they will make almost everything ppv now.
Nothing will lose DAZN more British customers than this constant pandering to the Yanks. I’m hearing on the general board that Benavidez vs Yarde won’t start until 1:45am. Fair enough if the fight was actually in the USA, but for a card in Saudi – where they’re already three hours ahead of UK time – there needs to be some kind of parliamentary procedure, as Eubank Snr would say. It’s madness scheduling it like this, and it must play havoc with the boxers’ body clocks too. Still, I’ll be rooting for Noakes and Yarde, hoping Bam gets the job done, and praying Norman sparks Haney.
A 2am main event is one thing, but when the whole card starts at 8 - decent enough as it is - do people really want to sit through six whole hours of boxing, padding and pandering to the Saudis before the main event? It’s hard enough for a card that starts at 5pm! Although I do hope we get my favourite bit of the Saudi shows, where Big Turks gives away a random car or something to a plant in the crowd - usually some chubby fella or the only woman in the arena sat in the gods and we have to wait 15 minutes for them to walk to the stage.
I have to go to work soon so my plan is to watch the card tomorrow morning. That way I'll also avoid the long conversations between the fights. I'm shocked that DAZN is using Conor Benn as an expert in the studio tonight !!! WTF! I'm NOT going to listen to that.
I am not shocked and thought he may be joined by Ebanie for her wonderful insight as well. Hearn runs the circus and he only wants clowns around.
Benn is the ‘man of the moment’ unfortunately. He’ll be everywhere in the run up to Christmas, chat shows, game shows everything I bet.
2AM ring walk for Yarde apparently shame can't see me making that one can only be so the yanks can watch it as a reasonable time. Main card doesn't start until 10pm either.
