I got Benavidez over Beterviev as well. Benavidez is the best LHW rn.

I just see the punchstats for Haney/Norman a pathetic 70 punches landed to 59 for Welterweights over 12 rounds.

I'm sorry but I don't like Haney and I can appreciate slick boxing or technical boxing. The man in my avatar was a defensive genius but he had a unique style that made his defensive style of fighting a pleasure to watch.

What Haney does isn't genius and his style isn't a pleasure to watch.

He's just fortunate he can get away with his ugly style in a Welterweight division that's arguably the weakest era of Welterweights of all time in what normally is a very exciting historic division.

Put Haney in with any of the 90s Welterweights like Tito, ODLH, Mosley, Forrest, Quartey, they would all sleep him.

I thought he started better than he usually does and I was quite surprised. Then he reverted to type around round 5 and it was the standard borefest. I don’t enjoy his fights and am surprised Turki put him on again after the Times Square card.

I dont think such a triangle theory works all that well when Briedis was in his late 30s when he fought Opetaia. And besides, Opetaia got beat up bad in both fights. Usyk finished his fight with Briedis strong, Opetaia more than struggled in the later rounds, in both fights.

All three fights were 115-113 affairs, only difference is Usyk was fine and was walking Briedis down, while a much older Briedis was busy deforming Opetaia's face the first time around and kicking his ass the second time. The 4 to 5 rounds Usyk lost to Briedis were highly competitive, the rounds Jai lost.... were not.

In all fairness a slight majority think Briedis won the first one. There is a poll on one thread or another.

Opetaia was pretty green in the first fight he went from fighting Aussie/New Zealand domestic level to stepping in with a beast like Briedis. I actually think that fight helped turn Jai into the beast he is today.

Briedis broke Jai’s jaw in the first fight and put him on the shelf for 12months. The second fight it looked like Opetaia had learned a lot and he was dominating probably the first 6 rounds I thought he might have stopped him but then Breidis turned it around and put it on him hard down the stretch. Breidis is an old school Hard man they don’t make many like him.
