Will Bivol be able to take Benavidez punches?

The way Yarde was trying to block all the punches from Benavidez while staying by the ropes reminds me of how Bivol was blocking all of Canelo’s punches before he returned the punches but with precision. Benavidez seems to overwhelm his opponents with heavy punches even when they’re blocking nonstop. Will Bivol be able to have same type of style blocking and then countering with Benavidez?

 

I think he will.

 

He took Beterbiev’s shots extremely well so I would say yes. He might have more trouble though since David is faster and taller than Biev.

 

Since he took punches off Beterbiev I would saw that he will not be too bothered by Benevidez.

 

Benavidez won't be able to punch Bivol as he did to others.

 

Benavidez’s best attribute is his relentless pressure and volume not his power particularly imo

 

He couldn't take them in sparring.

 

It's a combination of speed, power, accuracy, volume, that makes him so dangerous. Remove one of those attributes and he's not the same fighter. The fact he has all of them together is actually rare. Most fighters with speed and volume have no pop, or if they have power they are slow or low volume.

I think the sheer pace and volume Benavidez brings across 12 rounds will be more impactful than his raw punching power which isn’t what it was at 168 but is still pretty good. Bivol struggled very much with Artur’s pressure and pace in those middle rounds of the rematch before Biev gassed. Who knows how good Bivol will still be after his back surgery and general aging.

If there was a time where Benavidez should pursue a fight with Beterbiev and Bivol, it’s now.

 

I can see Bivol taking something out of this fight with his movement to slow down David. It won't be as exciting but he should win fighting in and out . Now if he makes the mistake Morrell made and just stands too long or gases out from the pressure, he takes a serious beating. David seems to have gotten even better coming off that fight but yeah his slow feet will be a problem if Bivol follows the right game plan.

 

And the fighter telling the tale, never ever looses.




Even when they get KO'd..

 

Benavidez is much taller than Alvarez with a much longer reach. I'd expect Bivol to box and move more and then sit down on shots when he needs to. I think it's easier to pin a guy when A. that guy wants to sit against the ropes so he doesn't have to use his leg and B you don't have to worry about a counter shot as your reach mean u can be well out of harms way. Bivol kept things straight and long V Canelo he will have to move and find different agles against DB.

 

Bivol is probably way better and can deal with him.
Wouldn't surprise me if he comfortably beat him.
Bivol can be hurt but he's now been in with Joe Smith and Mr Hormones and after that I think he's proven he can take some shots from the biggest hitters at 175.
If you can't land enough bombs on Bivol it's pretty hard to beat him.
I think Kovalev would have beaten him but he had rare punching ability along with top skills and good speed.
