How much more open can you be?

In that post he said he threw the Golota fight, the Smith fight, the Nielsen fight and the Page fight.

"This guy doesn't need to be fighting anymore. I gave it to him. (Page loss). I didn't want to win and was on crack and drinking (Golota loss). I took the dive. (Nielsen loss). I made sure there was a three knockdown rule and I admit to throwing the fight. (Smith loss)

What would be a more open admission exactly than I admit to throwing the fight, I took the dive, I didn't want to win, I gave it to him?

    Seriously?

Either he's telling the truth or he's not.

But you don't get to pick which you believe in if he's admitting to all of them.

He’s been saying that he threw the smith fight for over 35 years. At least that ones consistent. In 1990 I was watching Witherspoon fight Jeff simms on USA Tuesday night fights. Sean O’grady and Al Albert were talking about what he said in his pre fight interview. Tim said that he threw the fight. This was 35 years ago . Since that time he’s publicly said it several times.

Indeed. One year previously and Tim shut Smith out over ten rounds.

This is an even more succinct way to say it.

And another thing I noticed when I was 11 and first dealt with famous boxers in person: everytime a fight of theirs had a James Bond like underground subplot, its only when they lose! I just choose not to talk to them about defeats anymore. Its kind of disrespectful, anyways.

The obstreperous and felcherous chicanery that was this occipital era and all of its dastardly lobes!

Tbf no one tells the guy whose winning a fixed fight to do anything. He doesn't have a story to tell.

I feel like Witherspoon was disillusioned with Don King and boxing. I feel like he had a slack camp and the late change of opponent (light tapper for a puncher), a guy he had beaten easily before, probably didn't help.

In short i don't think he threw the fight so much as the previously mentioned factors combined to produce a pretty dreadful effort from him.

That's my take. It might be bang on or quite wrong.

I am aware of this, but rematches don’t always go the same way. Adjustments are made. Smith clearly had improved and utilized a totally different style
and approach. It worked, and he got the money fight against Tyson.
