That mentality is setting AJ up to fail. If Paul's strategy is to just survive as long as possible, he can do his best to run and clinch every time he thinks AJ is about to get a shot off. That would buy Paul a few rounds at least.

I'll be shocked if he comes straight ahead at AJ the way Ngannou did.

Where is the vote option for

"influencer is surprisingly injured and has to cancel fight and then fight someone way easier sadly and probably only used this as an attention grab"

I am waiting for the injured in training from Jake Paul, so fight canceled. I don't think Joshua is even training for this.

If AJ trains on burgers and loses to this bum I swear I will hate him even more than MarkusFlorez from here on out.

lol did you see the faceoff? The difference in size is massive. AJ could just shove Paul off. Or throw at his guard and still hurt him.

and wait, clinch? Ok, sure. AJ just manhandles him while freeing up his right to throw an uppercut.

AJ is already posting training vids. He’s fit with visible abs, taking this seriously.

Of all HWs, you think AJ isn’t showing up to a fight in shape? He’s one of the (embarrassingly few) HWs you can count on to show up in fighting shape.

The more I think about it, the more this "fight" signals the end of the pretense of professional boxing being a sport, and a sign of that the whole business has turned itself into 100% circus sideshow.

What is happening here? Could be one or some of:

    1. Jake Paul (who, to his credit, is a 'professional boxer' now, and not 'just a YouTuber') is deluded with 'self belief' and geuinely wants to 'challenge himself' , and people around him are happy to go along with his delusions because there's so much money to be made.

    2. Anthony Joshua is happy to go along with it because there's a lot of money to be made, and also, despite his 'nice' persona, he's an insecure bully who'd quite like 'a body on his record'.

    3. The fight will be rigged, completely fake.

    4. In the back of the minds of fans, even (or especially) the most 'hard core', there's a nagging feeling that Anthony Joshua and a whole bunch of other 'modern champions' are manufactured frauds themselves, so there's a tiny but actual chance that any 190 pound guy off the street with a bit of training becomes a 'live underdog' or at least possibly capable of avoiding getting blasted out and achieving some sort of 'moral victory'

    5. The fight will be called off.

The more I think about it, this fight ENDS the sideshow that boxing has turned into. It will send shockwaves through the sport, when AJ gets that body on his record. Scaring off all of the YouTube clowns making a mockery of this sport forevermore.

We can hope, yes. But I suspect the money made on all sides will only encourage more of it or something similar. The fact that the angle you describe - 'death (or destruction) of Jake Paul' - might even pull fans in, is proof we are part of the circus.

If the fight is real and Jake Paul ends up cabbaged on life support, dribbling in a wheelchair the rest of his life, I think it will hurt the legitimate sport too. I doubt Netflix need boxing after that, for one thing.
If he comes out unscathed, the worst sideshow aspects continue.

If someone as famous as Jake Paul gets seriously injured this will be really bad for boxing.

Some here might call for his head, but I won't watch this before checking if he's ok.

Imagine he is hurt irreversably. Sure, lots of people will have a guilty pleasure shock like those who like to slow down and look out the window when they see a car crash or who watch vids of dying people or whatever.

But there will be hundreds of thousands of fans of Jake Paul and also just general people in media calling for a ban of boxing.

And the way media works there will be a shitstorm in social media and classic media will have something to talk about for weeks, while politicians gladly engage with this topic as they don't genuinely care about it but can show they are acting on behalf of the public opinion.

So this could get as bad as you can imagine.

But Paul has had hundreds of professional sparring rounds and Joshua had thousands. I guess Joshua can have a guess how much of a punch Paul is capable of taking. If Joshua isn"t a total madhat yet, he can just cumulate the damage until Paul has to give up .

That's what I would do if i had a serious fight against someone with no boxing experience compared to mine. Instead of preparing one full force shot the other guy does not see coming...

Everyone calm down. When has boxing not been a sideshow, a freak show sometimes? People have always been drawn to the spectacle of two men battering each other, possibly to t he death? Ok we are afficionados of the sport, we see the science and the beauty of it, but promoters see their money come from the casuals, the people who want to see blood.

JP has brought more eyes to the sport than anyone this century. Love him or hate him I've just spoken fact.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

H is a gym rat. There is a difference between working out and going balls to the wall like he would for an Usyk fight and a Jake Paul fight.
