I doubt this is true, but...

    A couple of comments:

    1) I can't believe that this is true because we were told he wants big fights, and there's no money in these guys. Maybe he thinks Anderson is going to win and he'll get some big American money, but no one in America watches boxing anymore.

    2) I am pretty certain Sanchez will win, and there is very little commercial interest in him.

    3) I would be all right with this, though unenthusiastic, if he reduced down to the IBF title. Wardley and Parker can rematch for the WBO, the winner of Pulev-Gassiev fights Ituama for the WBA, and Kabayel get promoted to WBC. No harm done. I imagine they would strip him of the WBC anyway, but why hold on to that WBA belt? He should let his old pal Gassiev take it and it instantly adds another heavyweight titlist on his resume by virtue of the fact he has already beaten him.

    1) I suspect that is indeed his view on it. If Anderson wins, it has potential to open the American market to Usyk.

    2) yeah, if Anderson wins.

    3) Recent news was that the WBC will be making a decision on whether to install Kabayel as the official mandatory to Usyk during their December conference. WBC logically is next in the rotation. If Usyk drops that belt as well, perhaps Kabayel (interim) vs Okolie (#1) would get made.

The things with reducing down to the IBF, is he would then have to fight whoever is on the IBF ladder. Currently, he can stall for time to make the fights he wants by strategically dropping belts one at a time. If I was to provide advice of a cynical nature, I would tell him only to drop the belts when the orgs come calling, giving him breathing room to organize an opponent of his choice on a time frame that he is comfortable with. Of course, his plan may be to reduce the belts to the one that will allow him the most leeway, hope the next champion develops a following, and then come back round with a unification - more lucrative than a defense

As for the WBA, I doubt Gassiev would get his hands on the full title. If Usyk dropped the belt, the sharks would start circling

Sanchez-Anderson is reportedly the IBF eliminator.

Also, I would think that the winner of Gassiev-Pulev would be installed as the "super"championship is only created by unifying, and would cease to exist. But who the hell knows what the rule are, or even if there are any.

    Good points!

If there is no super champion, maybe the regular becomes default champion. Things got a bit confusing when they also had Wardley as Interim (to who I don't know)

Just so long as Kabayel doesn't get ducked (or, more to the point, f@#&ed) in all of this.

I still think Usyk shoul treat himself to a Bridgerweight belt. Kevin Lerena's got the WBC's; some Russian whose name's too long for me to bother typing has the WBA's. Sure, Bridgerweight is a BS division but it allows Usyk to go into the books as a 3-Weight-Division Champ .... and how many HWs have been able to put that on their resume...?

I think Usyk will fight the winner of Wardley vs whoever Wardley's opponent is

Probably Usyk wanted Wardley to fight Fury, so that he can fight Fury the champion, and the revenue will be bigger.

Right. Usyk shouldn't earn $50M per fight, instead he should get around $500K salary, while the likes of Joshua will be paid $50M.

Hey, if any opponent can offer Usyk a $50M payday, that's clearly the priority! (BTW, care to enlighten us as to who that might be? A Fury trilogy? Jake Paul after he's demolished by AJ...?)

I'm just saying that, were Usyk to have the time and energy, it should be easy pickins to pad out his legacy with a 3rd weight-class title. Ain't about the $$ obviously.

Anderson is not bad, his confidence is just shaken, he needs a good win to move forward.

How about Usyk quits professional boxing and do street fights for free, and post them on YouTube? He has nothing left to achieve in professional boxing, street fights would add to his legacy, right?

OK... I get it. Usyk's got nothing left to prove. Guess what: I agree. I'm just musing out loud that he'd have an (admittedly non-lucrative) opportunity to do something even more rare without breaking much of a sweat.

But I'd rather see him defend his belts against Wardley or Kabayel; sadly, even with Turki's assistance, neither would be likely to deliver him that $50M payday you're talking about. Would those $$ come via a trilogy with Fury or AJ (who'll stomp Paul but got stomped by the guy Usyk later stomped) -- or by fighting a token American (LOL)? I doubt it.

    So
where's that $50M payday....? Or maybe he should just retire now...?

Usyk was paid $130M for Dubois rematch...

    https://www.essentiallysports.com/b...iel-dubois-earning-undercard-salary-and-more/

He won't get less that $50M for Kabayel/Wardley fights.

And you want him to go to bridger weight and fight for $500K salary.

Maybe he should give away all his wealth to the poor and live out his days in a two-room house—what do you think? After all, hasn’t he already achieved everything there is to achieve? In his modest home he could sit and gaze at the medals hanging on his wall. He could work as an apprentice in an auto repair shop, regaling customers with stories of his old fights and memories. Let Joshua keep pocketing fifty million dollars a bout; Usyk shouldn’t be fighting for money, should he?

    lol.

To be honest - i'm not a fan of the bridgerweight idea but stop pretending he would be fighting for 500000. It wouldn't be remotely that much of a difference to the heavyweight matchups. At this point you're selling mostly usyk anyways. Bonus money if it is against an englishman. Maybe you can get a few germans to watch it if kabayel is the opponent. Apart from that he will make similar money.

Technical question - could he fight for the bridgerweight title while offering his opponent the chance to win the heavyweight titles in the same fight?

Then it would probably make no difference at all

OK then. It seems like we've come to agreement on something: We both want to see Usyk defend his belts against Wardley and/or Kabayel... yes?

But Usyk fighting the winner of Sanchez vs. Anderson....? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.

There'll be barely any interest in either fight, both fighters are really evenly matched as exposed gatekeepers, have little commercial value, nor present a challenge for Usyk.
