To me honestly it would be wise to JUMP on Tito at the start because once he gets into gear he seems to get stronger and more relentless. Since Lara is not going to do that he's just going to get steam rolled and lose a decision.
Not saying he didn't. But Anthony Stephens almost got him. Yori Boy almost got him. Oba Carr almost got him. Once he got into gear he destroyed them.
I think I’ll go for Lara because from what I’ve mostly read so far, this Trinidad guy you’re all talking about sounds ****.
TBF, none of those guys were even close to “getting” him. Stephens actually rocked him the most out of the ones you named, but the only time Tito actually looked in real trouble outside of Hopkins was against Cortez in his fight before he won the belt.
Before Winky fought Tito, Fernando Vargas heavily favored Tito to over power Winky. Vargas had fought both. Turns out Winky absolutely shut down Trinidad, so who's to say Lara wouldn't do something similar. I would have never thought that Winky could ever do that to a monster like Trinidad, but he did. Is Winky better than Lara? That much better, if at all? Lara has a decent shot here.
I'd pick the best version of Lara over the Trinidad that fought Wright. I'd pick the Trinidad that fought Vargas over any version of Lara.
Good point. There must have been subtle differences in Trinidad that i didn't see. Trinidad did fairly recently, going into that fight, take apart Mayorga. Trinidad getting shut out by Wright blew my mind.
Trinidad had fought once in 3 years going into the Wright fight. Coincidentally, I watched the Trinidad v Mayorga fight at the weekend. As dominant as Felix was, it was clear to my eye that the explosive quality of his punches wasn't quite what it was. Trinidad was definitely past prime by the time of the Wright fight. That’s to take nothing away from Winky's performance that night, his jab was about as good as any I've seen.
