You cream yourself over Jai beating 37/40 year old Briedis, and cab drivers yet at the same time dismiss the 37 year old Gvozdyk as shot when David dominates him, and top contenders like Yarde who gave Beterbiev hell in the ring. You are just saying things. Now Jai stops a p4p fighter in 6 because he went the distance twice with a 40 year old? Logic checks out.

So you give David full credit for beating Gvozdyk?

    Why wouldn’t I?

But Gvozdyk and Yarde are not in the same stratosphere as Jai Opetaia.

People are carrying on like Briedis was completely washed when Opetaia beat him. That’s a straight up fabrication. He might have been a little past his prime but he wasn’t cooked and not even close to it. Hell, he wasn’t washed the second time either.

Therefore the first fight especially is a better win than anything Benavidez has on his CV. By some distance. And at cruiserweight. The second Briedis fight also measures up just fine.

Explain how Gvozdyk a decorated olympian, former lineal WBC champion, who's only loss was a competitive fight to prime Beterbiev is not in the same stratophere as Jai Operatia and Briedis.

Briedis was a reigning world champion and the #1 CW in the world when Jai beat him in their first fight and he still had his mechanism, was a devastating puncher with an iron chin and his heart was still very much in the game. Gvozdyk retired for well over 3 years after getting brutalized and stopped by Beterbiev and he was clearly not the same fighter either mentally or physically when he returned and with the exception of one Euro level guy hadn't fought or beaten anyone with a pulse in 5 years or going on 5 since he lost to Beterbiev. He was not a reigning champion at the #1 fighter at the weight at the time and his heart was no longer in the game like it was back in his prime which was abundantly clear to see

The Benavidez fanboys will tell you that a beating at the hands of Benavidez will ruin a fighter or take a lot out of them mentally or physically but one by the brutally heavy hands of Beterbiev wouldn't even if the fighter retired for over 3 years after being on the receiving end of one

You think Yarde was the same fighter mentally and physically after Beterbiev bludgeoned him into defeat with his anvil fists? He, a power puncher, was throwing pity pats vs Benavidez for goodness sake and clearly, as with prime Gvozdyk, had a lot more fire vs Beterbiev than he did vs Benavidez. Briedis was prepared to dig down to the foundations of his soul vs Jai and he took him to hell and back in the 2nd half of the fight and was throwing with full power trying to take his head off not throwing pity pats

And what about the 40 year old Briedis who was inactive for 2 years who still gave Jai hell and had it him trouble in the championship rounds? Was he levels above the Gvozdyk David fought?

Gvozdyk also threw pitty pats, and Morrell spent half the fight with his ear muffs on. Notice a pattern? David shuts down his opponents.

I don't ever recall a p4p fighter being dismissed so easily like David is. They did it when he moved to 175 and doing it again. Apparently Jai is so good he's going to just walk over a p4p monster. Ye ok.

83% of this forum basically think David has no chance vs Jai who's best win is over a 37 year old and the rest of his resume is cab drivers. Hilarious.

Jack Massey, who went 12 with Parker and Riakporhe in his only other two losses was brutalised by Opetaia.

    Is he a cab driver?

He is a domestic level UK fighter. If you disagree I would love to hear the argument how has proven he is world class. I assume it will be something better than going the distance with another domestic UK fighter and Parker.

Easy work for Benavidez. He destroys Opetaia.

Again, comprehension doesn’t seem to be your thing.

I didn’t say Massey was world class. I asked if he was a cab driver.

Learn how to read and understand the question before you respond to me again. I at least had the decency to answer your (strawman) question.

You think the distinction between cab drivers and domestic level fighters was really worth having and somehow undermined by argument?

Bivol is apparently a -400 favourite against Benavidez and Opetaia would probably be wider than that given he's younger, bigger, more powerful, a southpaw and undefeated, with a better top win (37 year old CW Briedis > 40 year old LHW Beterbiev) and a better 2nd best win (39 year old Briedis > LHW Ramirez). Benavidez vs Opetaia seems a total mismatch so I can't see it happening.

Benavidez-Canelo is considered a virtual 50-50 with Canelo a slight favourite, which I think is absurd. He's ducked Benavidez for years, just took a paycheck to lose to a long-time welterweight and his market value has declined significantly with 3 losses.

I think you struggle to comprehend the points being made by myself and others.

Cab drivers don’t go 12 rounds with elite heavyweights like Parker. Nor do they go 12 rounds with guys like Riakporhe (a top level CW) who hit like a truck. Both guys are considerably bigger than Benavidez, who would be a middling sized CW, at best. At BEST.

Then Massey walks into Opetaia, who also hits like a ****ing hammer and what do you know, he gets absolutely annihilated.

If you, or anybody else thinks Benavidez is going to just step up to CW and beat up Jai Opetaia then you really should be committed to an institution. He’s outsized and he’s outmatched. In every single aspect of the sport. That’s not to diminish Benavidez in any way at all but this is not a close fight. There is nothing Benavidez brings to a fight with Opetaia that would scare Opetaia in any way. If he can take everything that Briedis can throw at him for 24 rounds (and no he wasn’t washed, that’s a myth) then he’s not going to be bullied by any blown up super middleweight. Opetaia will almost certainly ragdoll Benavidez. He’s simply bigger, stronger and at least as quick as anything Benavidez has seen before. And he has the chin to take anything Benavidez can throw.
