Neither are ATG. The cluster with guys like Patterson, Norton, Bowe, Vitkli and Walcott that made significant contributions to the division without ever really bossing it, but they are at the back of that pack.

Now, of they fight each other, the winner jumps to the front. Then we'll talk.

For me, AJ is still ahead of Fury all-time.

This is a really accurate comparison. As things stand now, Fury and Joshua are very much on the Bowe/Vitali//Norton/Walcott/Patterson level, if not slightly below.

Tyson Fury is the ATG--at talking trash and pulling out of fights. AJ, well, if there was a category for an allegedly top HW constantly fighting guys in their 40's, he would probably win that.

Should be in the to 15-25 of HW's.Does that make them ATG? At what ranking does the term ATG start?

AJ is around #25, and Fury is between #45 and #50.

Neither is really an ATG heavyweight. AJ is perhaps on the same level as Max Baer. Fury is the 21st century's Tony "Belly" Galento.

There only been 2 ATG heavyweights since 2005: W Klitschko and Usyk.

i think the more you learn about boxing, the lower they drop in quality. period between wlad and usyk, there was no daddy. just a bunch of incomplete fighters looking good one day, then ass the next.

Unlikely he would win that one, considering the only guy he has ever fought over the age of 40 was Klitschko.

It's hard because Fury and AJ would beat most of the ATG's on the list.
But I guess there are people who actually think Frazier would beat them.

If the question is who is better, it's obviously Fury and Usyk himself confirmed it, as much as it hurts the feels of the AJ fans.
I think AJ could potentially beat Fury if everything went right for him on the night, due to the punching power, but I think Fury would win a series since he's better.

It's also curious that Jake Paul wanted to make a fight with AJ not Fury, who I don't think is too proud or honourable to turn down that money. Jake seems to think AJ is the weaker opponent out of the two of them, the one he has the best chance of winning against even if it's a slight chance. I don't think AJ at this stage would generate more money than Fury, especially in the US, so I think it's probably mostly to do with AJ being considered the weaker opponent.

Fury probably needed the win over Usyk to secure his legacy but unfortunately Usyk is just a supreme boxer that won't come around again and Fury was a bit unlucky he ended up in the same era. You can't really argue AJ is unlucky in that way because he got KO'd by Ruiz and Dubious and he never avenged them with KO's in return.

If you are putting them into the ATG HW rankings now, assuming both are retired and will no longer fight. Or will have senior circuit type fights from now on.

You would be placing Fury around the 25-30 mark and AJ around 30-35 mark.

Fury's career best win over Wlad, remains tarnished by him ducking the rematch. AJ lacks a win over the big 3 from his era (Usyk, Wilder, and Fury) so it would be natural to assume he is ranked below Fury who does (vs Wilder).

However, it is not possible to accurately rank a fighter on the ATG scale until after they have been retired for around 10 years. Current fighters are notoriously underrated when they are active.

    How is AJ number 25.

    What is his best win?

His legacy is damaged by him not facing either of his two main rivals (Fury, Wilder) in their primes. Although he faced Usyk, he was comprehensively beaten in both.

The optics of those losses to Ruiz Jr and Dubois are not great either.
