That's difficult. That could really go either way.

One thing is for sure: on this forum it'll always be GGG.

It should be Canelo, but it’ll be GGG.

Canelo foe sure but GGG was the better middleweight and was robbed in their first two fights .. Canelo was a terrific fighter but he had monster promoters behind him .. he completely;y avoided GGG till GGG was already old ..

Canelo stole GGG's thunder with the 2 robberies, then ran with the ball while Benevidez was out of town. Canelo did well after the two GGG fights. Every fight was a ppv type event. Canelo was a 4 division champ, the face of boxing, the first undisputed 168lb Champ, with one draw and a controversial win over GGG.

While GGG tied Hopkins all time consecutive title defense record with 20 in a row (18) by KO. If the correct results had been given to GGG, he would have beaten Hopkins record, and Canelo would have two more losses on his record, with zero wins over GGG. Also GGG would be known as the only boxer ever to defeat Canelo twice. That would be quite a accomplishment and give GGG even more notoriety. So with the proper results it might go to GGG, but
as it sits Canelo has an edge with his real wins, his fame and his undeserved draw and win over GGG.

Golovkin got quite alot of stick on social media recently when he was made a ballot into the hall of fame.

Fans were saying he was overrated and his resume was kind of forgettable.

So GGG's legacy isn't aging that well already.

For me the answer is Canelo he has a considerably better resume and has more of a fan base.

Golovkin has the most defences in middleweight history.

Canelo specialized in underhanded tactics like weight draining opponents and ageing them out. His custom judges are legendary. He's had some of the worst decisions in history and they are always in his favour. Canelo will certainly go into the Clenbuterol Hall of Fame.

That said, casuals will forget all the above and think ginger is better.

Hardcore boxing fans will know that Golovkin is in fact the real deal.

Canelo. He's considered one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time and was the biggest star in boxing period for a while (He still might be today). GGG is more so for hardcore fans to remember. I don't think casual fans will be talking about GGG in the future. Canelo will always be talked about due to him being a much bigger star.

People have short memories. His resume isn't aging well because none of the champions wanted to fight him. Golovkin between 2012 and 2015 was arguably the most avoided fighter of the 21st century at any weight, it's laughable that people think a fighter who was sat at the top of the P4P rankings for an entire year isn't a Hall of Famer.

Canelo for Divisional Achievements, tough, durable and a willing game excellent fighter.

but I think a lot of purist might zero in on Triple G for his reign within his own sphere as a mighty fine controlled intimidating champion and at the end of the day there is always little between Top Men... all the hype, flash big money promotions, multiple Sanctioning Bodies & Belts is just Tinsel after all.

point in fact, look at that British HW Debacle a few days ago, less than 20 fights between them fighting for what was once a very fine catapulting TOP Prize - the Lonsdale Belt, now just Tinsel, well if that isn't bad enough, these are 'supposed' to be the Best HW's Britain's got to offer, Please and what a sorry state Boxing has indeed been for Decades now.

and ALL of these Boxing Pundits, Media and **** talkers are more the half to blame for it all, that is why you can see Social Media Poll Posts appear with is AJ a TOP 5 ALLTIME Great HW???

Ridiculous, I responded he's not even a Top 5 SUPER-HEAVYWEIGHT and there are very few of them.

    Triple G.

Canelo is always going to have the drugs charges against where he was given a slap on the wrist.
He's also had some very favorable cards in his favor and should have at least 1 loss to GGG and possibly to Lara.
He will be remembered as a terrific fighter but there will be the odd question mark.

GGG will be remembered as a consummate pro. Technically very good, brilliant power. Didn't always get the biggest fights for whatever reason.
Didn't get the decision Vs Canelo and that hurts how people view him slightly but compared directly to Alvarez I think people may view him most positively

You don't get extra brownie points for fighters supposedly avoiding you that has nothing to do with his legacy/resume.

The fact is when Golovkin stepped up another level he wasn't overly impressive compared to the hype he was getting previously.

    He barely scrapped by Jacobs.

Couldn't really separate himself from Canelo I had no issues with Canelo getting the nod in fights 2 and 3.

And Golovkin himself won a highly controversial decision against Derevyanchenko.

Golovkin is worthy of the hall of fame but he's not an ATG IMO.

Canelo will be remembered more than Golovkin he simply has better achievements and a more memorable career and I'm not a fan of Canelo either but thats how it is.
