Wilder is beyond washed both physically and mentally and he has not beat a world level heavyweight in over half a decade.

Anyone who is ''happy'' if this happens over Wardley or Kabayel needs a brain transplant.

I wish he would just retire so I don't have to hear fans with an IQ of an overcooked artichoke saying the old ''he's earned the right to do what he likes'' ''argument'' ok, fair enough, just give up all the belts so the actual contenders can fight for them.

Kabayel when he fights an unproven prospect will have gone basically a year without fighting.

Look at what an absolute shambles the IBF elimination talks has been, Frank Sanchez of all guys is literally being ducked.

If there was a serious genuine challenger, I’d be disappointed but honestly the options out there are rather poor.

 

Nobody cares about 'closing chapters' vs a shot 40 year old who can't even pull the trigger. A pointless cash grab fight. How about fighting a young live body for the first time in the division?

Horrid waste of time, an absolutely unjustifiable lottery ticket of a payday for Wilder, akin to Fury vs Chisora 3, given how finished he is and how dreadful he was against Parker and Zhang. It should be Kabayel, Wardley, and then Itauma, and then retirement. Anything else is simply holding up the division.

 

Wilder is the zombie of a myth.

A never-was, who certainly isn't going to start becoming something now.

Usyk hits at least as hard and in a much less crude way - I'd almost be surprised if he doesn't stop the bronze fraud.

I find it hilarious that these crybabies are that upset he’s fighting Wilder. Who was he supposed to fight? Kabayel? Why? Cause he beat up a 40 year old Chinese guy and an injured Frank Sanchez.

Wardley? Dude was getting absolutely outboxed by some random dude and beat a coked out never was good Joseph Parker?

Are they tougher fights than Wilder? Sure. But it’s called prize fighting for a reason.

 

It's a rubbish fight at this stage but most of us will still watch it, either due to the "What if?" factor or wanting to see Wilder get beaten up.

It's still probably among the most lucrative fights for Usyk, a fight against a name opponent who will be in the HOF and Wilder may not be top 100 at this point, so it's virtually zero risk. It's low wear and tear and enables Usyk to "see how it goes" and assess the lay of the land in the division.

It's a pure risk-reward gimmie fight, which suggests that Usyk is close to the exit.

 

He knows that age has caught up with him and that’s why we are getting wilder, there’s nothing more than that, it’s certainly not a money grab, it’s something he can pass off as some sort of legacy fight, and it will probably look that way in terms of history, only the names will matter, he can say he fought everyone in his era, I don’t like it but I prefer it to him getting sparked by Wardley, ituama or Kabayel none of them have done enough to deserve the chance to inflict the first defeat on a fighter and champion of the statute of Usyk.
Parker deserved his chance but he dropped the baby on its head with what happened.
The best outcome would have been for him to retire, if Wilder gets anything above a 10/90 split then he has ripped himself.
