I am happy Usyk chose to fight Wilder, It basically closes the book on this chapter of the division

How in the blue **** hasn’t Wardley earned it? Wildest cinderella story in boxing. He was selling insurance or something as a job, messes around in a boxing gym, has four white collar fights, turns pro because why not, in his 21st pro fight he stops a former champ, largely the consensus #2 (not counting Fury) in the division, and ends up getting the WBO title off it?

Just make the Parker fight for the strap itself and not the interim with a quick post-fight elevation and it’s movie worthy stuff.

wilder was bad before he became shot. today hes practically handicapped. if he were to land the hail mary on usyk, it would really be a stain on usyks legacy.

And this is the absolute perfect counter argument to my point, but I didn’t say he hadn’t earned it, I said he doesn’t deserve it, I’m not all in on this stance I have been back and forth with it in my head but my whole argument is based on the fact that something has changed or happened with Usyk that has made him realise that he’s declining due to age and for that reason the likes of Wardley don’t deserve to be presented with a declining version of Usyk, they want their place in history they have to create their own legacy, the better argument you could have used would have been how can wilder get a shot over Wardley and in that case I can’t find any reason for it, Wardley took on a serious opponent in Parker and he has earned his position and absolutely has more right to fight Usyk.
But champions like Usyk don’t come around very often and he deserves to end his career how he sees fit, peak Usyk absolutely destroys wardley that isn’t even up for debate and if they fought and Usyk lost it would be down to age and not Wardley.
So has Wardley earned it, yes I can’t argue with that but he doesn’t deserve to face an aged version of the champ.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure I’m more against wilder getting this than anyone else, he is a disgrace to boxing and doesn’t deserve to share the ring with a champion of Usyks calibre, these are the two polar opposites of champions, Wilder don’t forget took his trainer to court for accusing him of spiking his water in fight, he has made false accusations against fighters and referees and coaches when ever he’s been beaten, he should be banished from boxing history

There are three logical explanations for Usyk's decision to choose Wilder:
    1. He's already feeling the strain of his career and is looking for easier money while waiting for something bigger.
    2. He considers Wilder one of the best of this era and, to emphasize that he was the king here, wants to outdo everyone.
    3. Someone asked him to give Wilder a chance to earn money because, I don't know, he's struggling, and he wants to help him in this way.

With all due respect to Wilder, he looked bad in his last fight and his previous results were disastrous. A point two makes little sense here, considering that Usyk has much more interesting names available, who are currently worth much more than Wilder.

The remaining two points also disadvantage Usyk because the number one contender with all the belts should be expected to perform the most. It's unacceptable for a champion to neglect his duties (which Usyk did) to make money for his teammates or take easy fights. Not when there are people on the horizon who, through their in-ring performances, have earned their chance.
Fury, as champion, even with a lower standing, pulled such stunts that instead of taking the best fights, he let Dereck earn money again in one-sided fights or sought out Ngannou for the money and a safe fight, and it wasn't a good thing.
If Usyk is going to go down this path, he should retire already or vacate most of his belts.

It's the right fight but maybe the wrong time. To be fair Usyk wanted this fight a while back but then Fury kind of wrecked Wilder.
I think it was obvious he would want to 'complete the set' and even though other 'prime' fighters might be better than Wilder now, Wilder did more than them really. It's not like they have amazing wins.

But after Usyk's latest 'bromance' with AJ, and trying to help him beat Fury, I feel like he actually deserves to get KO'd. He has the worst character judgement of anyone on the planet, apparently, the Jesus thing is part of it, but seriously, he's now friends with Chisora and AJ, two obvious thug scumbags in 'British' boxing? What's next, he'll add Wilder to that list?

Problem is we can't have him getting KO'd by Wilder, it's just too far. He doesn't deserve that.

Well.. it's not official yet. One of the sanctioning bodies will find a way to put the kibosh on it, and for once, I won't be disgusted with them for doing so.:sisi1 Although this fight doesn't bother me all that much, at least in 30 years, we won't have a bunch of casual noobs claiming he ducked the corpse of The Bronzoe Bomber.

Imagine the forum if Wilder lands a KO shot out of nowhere though...

And that's the biggest problem with this fight if you are an Usyk fan. Boxing can be a funny game, I know Usyk is the ultimate pro, so I really hope he takes the fight seriously. This fight is happening only because Usyk sees it as helping his profile in the US. He obviously wants to defend his title in the US against a name fighter in the US (even if he is garbage level).

Ortiz was officially 38 and still formidable 4.5 years + 2 KO losses later, when Ruiz scraped past him over 12 rounds. Good wins.

Disappointed. But hopefully he takes a worthwhile challenge after Wilder. He said he wants to get all the titles again, which gives hope.

I give Jake Paul more chance against AJ, than Wilder against Usyk, and I’m being deadly serious

Wilder isn't even a top 30 fighter now. This fight shouldn't even be sanctioned for a world title defence.

I don't know if Usyk was jesting though. Possibly.

If only fighting once a year and not fighting Wardley, clearly Kabayel should be next.
