I am happy Usyk chose to fight Wilder, It basically closes the book on this chapter of the division

This is a bit of a shocker from Usyk, give up the belts and go fight Wilder no problem.

Wardley and Kabayel are probably the most deserving contenders, and in a meritocrisy should get the chance. People not liking this fight is fine, it is a **** fight and Usyk is looking for an easy pay day. No problem at all just vacate the belts.

I think the book has been closed on Wilder for a long time, only a handful of people think he was ever world class at this point. Most of us know he was a marketing exercise.

I’m an Usyk fan and I’m grateful he showed this era what real skills are, but this would be a **** fight.

Then fight Jerrell Miller, the best active American HW. I just don’t like Usyk taking on a totally shot fighter. It’s not like Usyk has been on the decline and knows it, he looked absolutely great last time, absolutely neutralized everything Dubois was trying to do with that mean upward spearing jab.

Usyk deserves to fight whoever he wants. He's one of the few boxers that if he wants a big name soft touch, I'm fine with it.

Wardley is by far the more dangerous fight so its a shame Usyk went with the easier option.

Deontay Wilder in 2026 is not a serious opponent for any top 10 heavyweight.

There are probably a couple of dozen heavyweights outside the top 20 who'd put up a better fight than Wilder.

Usyk might as well wait and see how Jake Paul does against Joshua.

Wilder is not a top 10 contender anymore.

No. Just no. But if it makes Usyk good money, that's fine.

The only reason some (a few) people want to give Usyk a pass if he takes this fight, is because they already see him as a "retired fighter" at this stage. Which is fine.
But in that case, he should vacate his remaining belts now, so the sport can get on with finding the new champion.

Champion should fight the mandatories and highest ranked opponents, period. People "crying" just want the sport to be healthy.

If you are happy with Usyk fighting against a totally shot opponent who got dominated by Parker, Zhang, not winning a single round in the 17 rounds he boxed against those fighters.

Not to mention Wilder is 2-4 in his last 6 fights not beating a single top 10 Heavyweight since 2019....

    Then I'm absolutely baffled.

And to all the people saying "Usyk deserves an easy fight"

Yes that's all well and good if you are active fighting atleast 2 or 3 times a year.

It's not good when Usyk holds all the belts so we have to wait 1 year on average for his next fight. So the division is being stalled with this totally irrelevant pointless fight.

    Half those rankings are bogus.

Facts are Usyk is 38 and has been a road warrior his whole career. Crying over this after the career he gave to us is low. Do better.

Well he can retire or vacate the belts no one is stopping him.

If this was Crawford you'd be all over this ranting about how Crawford is fighting a meaningless fight.

The fact is Usyk isn't very active and he's stalling the division with a totally rubbish irrelevant fight especially when he holds all the belts.

No one is criticising Usyk's resume but the rematches the inactivity and now with this pointless Wilder fight people's patience are starting to wear a bit thin.

I think fans just want the division to move on with meaningful fights.

If Usyk doesn't intend to fight top contenders anymore and he doesn't want to be active that's fine but then vacate the belts so the division can move on.

Waiting a whole year for Usyk to have 1 fight against a 40 year old totally shot Wilder is not what I want to see for the future of the Heavyweight division.
