Imagine if Wilder manages to knock out Usyk...

  1. That would be crazy, brother, CRAZY. I'd be kind of happy for Wilder.

I don't know... Paul might have clauses (like his favourite "no KO") that give him a non-zero chance.

Wilder very well could, when all said and done, have less of a chance than Paul.

He's a shot myth - never beat a contender and somehow he has a chance of beating a legit ATG?
Prime Wilder is, in many ways, less dangerous than Dubois - that should tell you a lot about how much chance shot Wilder has.

I couldn't agree more on the money side, though - it's a clear mismatch against a guy who was never that huge a draw... So who's paying for it?!

You must be drunk or obsessed .

Wilder , i agree with you , is shot and should consider retirement . Wilder , i agree with you , has for a world class level athlete below average boxing skills .

But wilder was a multiple times hw world champion with multiple mandatory defences over several years . Jake is a bit short of this and in fact still maximum on tommy furyy level , if at all .

In an open bout without a netflix story today shot wilder annihilates jake paul , let alone a prime wilder .

Trash fight that should never been sanctioned. Wilder is beyond shot and cant pull the trigger anymore. What has he done to get a shot at usyk??

Imagine if Deontay Wilder actually focused on improving his boxing skills instead of relying on his power and right hand.

Name recognition. And also an easy payout fight for Usyk.

If Wilder KO'd Usyk, it would be the biggest HW upset in living memory, would it not?

It would definitely top Tyson v Douglas and Joshua v Ruiz. Those guys were actually seen at the very least as fringe contenders in their primes. Wilder is seen as being completely shot and afraid to pull the trigger

Kind of why I voted "trash fight"

Ali took on Shavers when he was near shot and took his best shots. Dude was something else.

The injustice of a clearly and obviously fake narrative persisting does rather irk me, but I'm not running around starting threads about it like some on here would...

Wilder never beat a contender. He was never champion level.

Yes, he has multiple defences consisting of very mediocre journeymen and the occasional gatekeeper... And yes, that's better than Jake Paul has done or will ever do - no question.

At the same time, Wilder in his prime struggled to deal with Szpilkas movement and only finally got the KO when Artur stopped focusing entirely on survival and started trying to win... Does anyone seriously think Wilder at 40 years old stands any chance whatsoever of finding the time to wind up a full telegraph "bomb" and getting it onto Usyk's chin? Seriously?

Without the KO Wilder at any stage of his career has basically zero chance with Usyk - Wilder was always a vastly inferior points fighter than Fury or Joshua, and neither of them could get close enough for a cooked set of cards to be justified.... So Wilder in current condition? It might as well be zero.

Paul against Joshua WITHOUT clauses against KO has basically no chance, and WITH them has realistically almost none either - it all depends quite how shot Joshua is, and whether Paul is allowed to try for the KO if Joshua isn't.

Shot Wilder would still have time to swing wildly and knock out Paul - but that wasn't the question.

    Exactly.

Wilder was (at best) fringe contender material in his prime, but relied almost entirely on his speed and on his opponent to not be too hard to hit...

At this point, I don't see him having any realistic chance.

It would have to a Morrison vs Bentt or Withspoon vs Bonecrusher 2 type situation where Wilder hurts him badly in the 1st round and goes ape****. I expect Usyk to pick him apart and get the stoppage in about 7-8 rounds.

Wilder, if not already, is only one more loss away from becoming a standing joke.

Any genuine respect he once may have held gets replaced by mockery...

I'll give him some kudos for fighting heart, once he's in the ring, he insists on being nailed to the canvas rather than waved off.

Of course today wilder has zero chances against usyk . Thats why usyk fights wilder even for a lousy purse .

I just picked up your statement "jake has better chances than wilder against usyk" . Thats nonsense . While both have no chances against usyk wilder is still another league than jake .

Few years back and usyk would avoid wilder like he now avoids wardley , kabayel or itauma .

Thats the whole appeal of this fight. "Usyks going to win easily but what if he doesn't". People will watch for the spectacle.

Wardley hit hard but hes not historically special in that department. And I get Usyk thinking "if the WBO is forcing me to fight Wardley why can't I just fight Wilder instead"?

I'd be a lot more friendly to this fight if the state of the division was different. I get why hes doing it I do but given how many are waiting its wrong.
