This is the issue with non-mainstream media. You get any average Joe in any sport pick up a camera, headset, mic and start interviewing people and doing podcasts and starting media channels. Some are very good at it and some are terrible. There’s an art to interviewing and generating content that adds value to the fan experience.

Football has the same issues with the rise of fan media. Some of the podcasts you see online from club fanbases are comically embarrassing.

I hardly watch IFL these days but when I do if McCart is in the seat it gets switched straight off.

 

You get what you deserve if you're still watching anything IFL. They peaked about 10 years ago when ''Koogs'' thought he was important enough to argue with Bernd Bonte. They spotted a gap in the market before being left behind by people far better at the job. The oaf cowered from anybody over 9 stone and then threatened to do harm to harmless little Prince Patel. An absolute bullying melt.

he says ‘i guess’ like 2/3 times whenever he asks every question and stutters whilst doing so.

 

They're all pathetic. Lewis Heart, Oscar Beaver, Charlie the idiot. They try and make out they're asking a really nuanced question but all they're doing is padding out their question with absolute waffle. All 3 of them are the same. It's embarassing.

Don't get me started on Andrew Mccart. Hi buddy pal, matey, how's things with the family. Fck off.

The problem with "real boxing journalism" - whatever way you want to put it- is that they might get 1 or 2 (max) proper questions before they're blacklisted by every promoter and most of their fighters.

Sean Z levelled Dana with a question about fighter pay, a very well-constructed and fearless piece of boxing journalism, but don't expect him to ever be allowed into a Zuffa show or press conference again, at least not to ask a question, anyway. Hearn would 100% do the same thing to YouTube outlets if they kept shining a light on Benn and his eggs debacle and the insane contradictions that have emerged from it.

We can moan about YouTubers cozying up to promoters and fighters, but if they never did, you'd end up with zero content rather than too much; it's a double-edged sword, really. I see both arguments.

A lot of the vitriol toward YouTubers stems from the fact that they have the stones to pursue a career in the sport they love, while most people bark from the sidelines. Instead of looking inward and figuring out why they haven't pursued a career in boxing media, people project outward and say everyone is ****. Whatever helps people sleep at night, I suppose. Some are good, some are bad, same as any sports media.

 

He's awful. Seems to lose his b*lls when interviewing.
