Maske softened up Hill for Dariusz. The North Dakotan who left the ring was a shell of the man who entered.

it is not that I disagree. Yet, he still beat Rocky and Williams. he also fought on even terms with Hill . who deserve the nod, yet it was still a very close fight. who did Benavidez beat at 175 to match this?

 

You have to look at the context of things.
Maske beat Williams that much is true. But Williams was on a two year lay off and also on the down side of his career.
Virgil Hill BEAT Maske and everything was stacked against Hill.
But Maske could literally do nothing except paw with the jab.
Rocky beat Maske the first time and badly hurt him as well.
And yes Maske won the rematch.
Now take Darius. First time he should have lost to Rocky and he played up that punch to escape from losing.
But in the rematch he beat the bell out of Rocky and left no doubt.
Against Hill Darius DOMINATED Hill with his JAB despite having a shorter reach. He out jabbed the master jabber something Maske couldn't do.
Now how exactly would Maske beat Benavides? He isn't faster. He doesn't hit harder. He isn't busier.
Explain how Maske would beat a Benavides in your opinion.

 

Maske is faster, hits plenty hard, has better footwork, has a higher Ring IQ, better ring generalship.

Benavides would be cast in a play written by Maske. And David wouldn't like the ending!

 

Maske has ELEVEN stoppages. He isn't stopping anyone.

 

If you look at the context. Hill had an injury during camp for the DM fight. To me, it was obvious that this was not the same Hill that fought Maske.
