Were you at home with him to verify he was lying about this? He said that he was in training for a fight that fell through. About 3 weeks before it was called off. He was on the couch out of work when the call came in. He hadn't had a actual fight in 2 years, and that was because they fell through. He had training camps for each. Nice try though.

 

What fight was he training for? You have no answer because he wasn't in camp.
He hadn't fought in two years and never fought again.

Bro, quit deflecting the fact that Canelo was caught cheating, which was the real reason this was happening. Golovkin could fight who the H*** He wants to fight. He was 36 years old and wanted to save his best for defeating Canelo the cheat. Which he did, but it took every ounce of his war torn 36 year old body to do it. It was his last chance and they stole it from him. I am going by what I read at the time and from what I remember him saying. I have no reason to doubt that. Martirosyan performed excellently, but at the end of round one he nailed Golovkin good, which pissed him off, hence the devastating results. He was promoted by Don King. Never forget, Canelo beat an unranked Welterweight for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title.

Thanks brother, these dudes are constantly trying to discredit GGG. They aren't just happy with the robbery, they want more. How old is Canelo now. He fights a Welterweight coming up three divisions, and loses. Age means something.

Canelo was 15 when he started his career, GGG didn't turn pro until he was 24.

 

All you have to do is agree it was a terrible title defence. Its not that hard. But you can't even do that because ggg's ass cheeks are squeezing the oxygen out of your brain matter.

He was in the prime is his career. Prime is mileage and ggg was a low mileage fighter having feasted on cream puffs for all his professional career. When he fought Steve Rolls at 37 he brought back the big drama show / mexi style.

We can't be too hard on men who were operating outside the middleweight division, or who didn't hold a title, because they had other legitimate choices.

The people who clearly should have fought him, were the lineal middleweight champions, like Martinez and Cotto.

 

Yep... after he ducked him for a couple of years....fighting little fellas like Amir Khan and Liam Smith, and inventing new weigh limits for middleweight.

He was more worried about facing GGG than Cotto was.

He finally fought him when he was almost 36.

And even then, most who watched the fight believed he lost.

 

Did you forget? GGG wanted Munguia but the athletic commission didn't allow it. Spike O'Sullivan didn't last a round with Lemieux, so that would have been fun. Martirosyan would have beaten him. Hey GGG took them lemons thrown at him from Clenbuteral Boy and made lemonade. He got his 20th title defense while keeping busy. Martirosyan is no joke and GGG chewed him up and spit him out. Martirosyan used to whoop Chavez Jr in sparring and made it look easy. Meanwhile, Hopkins gets credit for a no contest, as a title defense. That's impossible, because a no contest is just that, a no contest. It means the fight never happens and there is no credit for a title defense with a no contest. So, 19 for Hopkins.
