Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua vs. Jake Joseph Paul - Judgement Day, Dec 19th - Discussion Thread.

If Jake Paul gets to the ring and somehow lasts till the end of round 1, it would be the greatest sensation in boxing history. But the fight ain't happening.

 

All those fights you mentioned were shown in sports bars in Austin.

 

I've read the script. Both guys score knock downs, so that Paul Franchise is saved. In the end, it ends as a draw. Usyk jumps in the ring and faces off Paul.

 

I actually had a dream about this fight last night.
AJ was in the ring waiting and Paul's music hit WWE style and he just no showed and AJ was in the ring blowing up deluxe yelling "where is he?!" The crowd was all booing then AJ got sick of waiting and left. Then the Paul brothers both came out claiming they won by forfeit.

 

Joshua beating Jake is arguably more impressive than the Ngannou win and the Helenius win. Jake has had 13 professional boxing matches while Ngannou only had 1. Helenius had fought a week before taking the fight with AJ so he was completely overtrained.

Not saying Paul is impressive but fighting a dude who is 12-1 is not the worst opponent considering Joshua is coming off a brutal loss and hasn’t fought for over a year.

 

It's true, considering Paul has recently beaten Mike Tyson, it might even be one of Joshua's best wins!!
Maybe he can get a third shot against Usyk if he gets past Paul?
But if not he could call out Inoue for another potential legacy defining win!

Jake Paul is literally a part-timer. He would only not be a terrible win if it was AJ's first professional fight. It says a lot about Jake Paul's ability and how much of a mismatch this is - when certain clauses such as I don't know 'no knockouts' are being strongly rumoured and suggested.

 

They are both warriors and I wish them both the best.

 

If Jake Paul beats Anthony Joshua it’ll mean these two main thought processes are seriously misunderstood:

- Jake Paul is an unknown commodity at Heavyweight

- boxing rankings are misused and misunderstood

 

He's an amateur level cruiserweight. Atleast Ngannou had an SD with Fury on his record. Paul couldn't even beat the smaller and much worse in every conceivable way Tommy Fury and virtually lost every round to him.
Imo this is just about as bad an opponent as one could imagine and the fight will serve Joshua in no way but financially.

 

...because he officially holds a sanctioned pro win over Tyson? I mean, that's a stretch.

We're talking about someone who's, aside from being a cruiserweight, a YouTuber with an 0-1 record versus actual pro boxers that are both in their primes and ranked top 50 in the world.

You’re right. In fact, if he beats Tommy Fury after that, It would solidify Joshua as an ATG Heavyweight.

Are we serious with this thread? Either there is truthfully no real respect for the Heavyweights competing currently that you would think that Jake Paul is even close to a respectable win for AJ at this point. Or you truthfully don't believe that AJ is or was ever an elite talent to begin with.

Then I'm seeing a response that some are using a fix Mike Tyson victory as a means to suggest he is worth of even sharing the ring with AJ. It's laughable. This is nothing more than a high profile exhibition as are all of Jake Paul's fights until he ACTUALLY takes competing seriously and fights opponents who have a drive to accomplish accolades within the sport rather than just $$ and twitter followers.

People saying we need to respect him because he is training with respectable coaches, and sparring with legit athletes, etc.... but then he goes and fights a 60 year old man who was coming off of an injury.

There are many opponents within the cruiser and heavy divisions that Paul can build his career on and gain respect from gaining a victory over....instead we get a circus, him disrespecting seasoned and accomplished fighters, him allegedly paying for his opponents not to go 100%, etc.....
