Ya that's complete garbage that Wilder never showed he was a legit contender

You want to say he never showed he was a true champion, fine

With this you make my case that Fury wasn't ever really much other than a personality.

Usyk is a giant among pygmies. I rate him highly, but it's eye test more than anything.

i agree with your assessment of fury. he was never half as good as he was made out to be by the hype machine. he had more fights where he needed an excuse for why he looked like ass, than he had where he looked good.

The trilogy is of great value to Fury's legacy especially because he was the first one to finally derail the back then undefeated and very confident Wilder. Not sure if anyone else could have replicated it back then without prior data from the Fury bouts. Fury received much damage just to do it in three fights.

Wilder is criticized for having lack of solid fundamentals, weak resume and grossly overrated. The Fury lovers talk Wilder up because without him on his resume, Fury's resume only has an old Wlad on it. I challenged any Fury lover to show posts prior to the Fury trilogy stating all the great things about Wilder. Nobody did. I'm sure, not all the Fury fans may have seen my challenge, but still.

What made the Wilder-Fury trilogy special was the story behind the build ups. You had Tyson Fury who was the lineal heavyweight champion that left boxing, put on an incredible amount of weight and basically was finished. Wilder was this destructive heavyweight that was knocking people out left right and centre. The weight that Fury had to lose was reminiscent to the stories we use to read about Jim jefferies coming out of retirement to fight jack Johnson, the difference is that Fury actually won. I know Fury drew, but really we know the truth. It wasn't just that Fury out performed, but it's also the way he came back from that viscious knock down to come back and put wilder on the back foot, It was a spectacle that showed the true greatness of Fury. The other fights were close at times with Fury getting knocked down, but apart from the knockdowns he dominated. They were true legacy fights for Fury where he proved a lot of people wrong.

Arguably he only received anywhere near that much damage because he was in such poor shape for 2/3 bouts?

And he still won twice whilst nowhere near his best - that doesn't happen unless it's a mismatch.

If he'd turned up fit every time, like #2, he'd have taken relatively little damage.

    Wishful thinking

Fury has always had lapses in concentration and can be caught with right hands throughout his career

It's certainly true that Fury was always prone to making mistakes - and his more aggressive kronk style even moreso... So he could always be hit.

At the same time... He only got caught badly in #1 when he gassed - and he was a mess in #3 fullstop.

Considering Wilder's lack of ability to pull the trigger against the other contenders he fought (Parker and Zhang), it doesn't seem an unreasonable assertion that Fury at 100% would've got hurt a LOT less...

Joshua could've fought Wardley when he was in negotiations with Whyte for a rematch and cherrypicking Ngannou, Wallin and Helanius. Wardley was a known british level prospect by then. I think it goes like the Dubois fight

Joshua never tried to fight Zhang either, he avoided Zhang. Zhang would never duck a joshua payday, he wants it. You have to be pulling this out your ass

Wilders fear of pulling the trigger came AFTER getting knocked out by Fury twice

Before that he never had any problem of pulling the trigger
