Get your head out of Allen's arse. The British public have known what he's all about for years. His best win is Nick Webb and his wins over Browne and Darch are interesting. Four rounds against Makhmudov? Laughable.

funny, the users over at box rec who score fights round by round and submit their own scorecards essentially came to the consensus that Allen won for rounds and I think that was with something like 60 or 70 score cards submitted. You can laugh all you want, buddy

So? At best Allen could've been given a 10-10 round. He was useless.

I like Allen but it's incredible that he sells so many tickets and he's being talked about as a serious British title challenger when he's Area level at best.

The thing I like about Allen is, he'd be honest about his own chances. He'd take a shot at the British but I doubt it would ruin his life if he didn't get it.

He could be the best pundit on TV for years if they let him - casual fans are so easily pleased with hype and promotion that he'd look like a total outlier; but at the same time he's the voice of the purist and boy do we need one of those...

The problem with Dave is he has absolutely no filter, and that’s going to cost him. I can’t see DAZN keeping him on once his contract with Eddie runs out. Maybe an independent outlet will pick him up, but there’s no chance a big broadcaster wants that level of unpredictability. He even posted a video on his own channel basically telling Fisher to consider retiring – and while he’s not wrong, we all know how it goes when a pundit actually says what they think. Look at Naz after Eubank v Groves… never saw him back in that role again.

Yes, gone are the days we woul have Jim Watt, Barry McGuigan or even Alan Minter on the mainstream TV being firm and fair. Even Duke McKenzie is relegated to guest spots on TalkSport now and again.

Froch has come and gone too - whatever we think of him, he didn't really care who he upset either. And he's hinted that he wouldn't push Sky narratives which led to getting moved out. Sad state of affairs.

Yup, sad state of affairs, but it’s the same everywhere these days in any field. The truth-tellers are the ones the people at the top actually fear, so the suck-ups and yes-men get pushed to the front instead.

It creates a fragile little system that eventually collapses under its own bull****.

Look at the turnaround with Fisher – straight after he beat Babic, Hearn’s calling him a world-class heavyweight prospect, a beast who’s just put the whole division on notice. Come Saturday night, he’s literally saying that if Fisher had lost, he was done. All optics, spin and noise.

Allen is a brilliant pundit but after his stint on DAZN the other week for the Whittaker I doubt they’ll be in a rush to get him back on after he basically slated every Matchroom fighter on the card. They’d rather Bellew being up their arse.

''Area level at best'' would indicate that he's barely pro level as area level in the UK is almost as low as you can go below that is white collar stuff so absolute bollocks.

I always hear that so and so is whatever level AT BEST and it's nearly always hyperbolic bollocks.

David ''Instagram Attention Seeker'' Allen is an alright domestic fighter who's talent does not match his profile. however, he would beat former BRITISH TITLE CHAMPION Sam Sexton. so, ''Area level at best'' is drivel so please stop spouting it.

WHY DO GENERIC ROBOTS SAY THIS ONLINE ALL THE TIME MAKE IT STOP!

Also another one generic twonks online say is ''I like'' this fighter and then proceed to say he's complete shite...you're like a bubble of generic takes.

I agree with everything above. There seems to be a reluctance to criticise in boxing, perhaps because everyone knows the dangers, but it's an insult to punters' intelligence to tell us we're watching Hagler-Hearns revisited when even the judges can barely stay awake.
