Tommy Morrison Vs Gerrie Coetzee . Who's power win's out?

I’ll go with Morrison.

Coetzee’s record against fellow 1980s heavyweight champs was 1-3-1 — lost to Tate, Weaver and Page, beat Dokes and drew with Pinklon.

Tommy the Duke was generally tougher, as we saw in his slugfests with Truth Williams, Razor Ruddock and Joe Hipp. And his offense was far more versatile and powerful (as opposed to Coetzee basically hoping to land one big right hand). Just a better-schooled fighter all-around, and Morrison also showed vs Big George that he could fight a disciplined fight.

I figure Tommy on points or maybe late stoppage, as Coetzee seemed easily discouraged and would lose interest when things weren’t going his way. Morrison is a bit underrated and Coetzee imo is overrated.

 

Morrison was a better fighter

 

I think Morrison may have hit harder but Coetzee was probably the better all around fighter . Who wins ? I’d lean towards Coetzee but wouldn’t bet money it

 

Coetzee was a marginally better contender than Morrison, Morrison was more dynamic but couldn't take a punch and both of them had power, Coetzee stops him

Coetzee by ko. Morrison also had crappy stamina if this gets out of the early rounds.

 

I always thought that Gerrie's power was overrated. He also wasn't very imaginative or versatile in his punch selection. When well trained, he did have good, active feet. Never the hulking, muscle bound type (like Morrison) he could move around a lot. He could chip away at Morrison and get him gassed and then go for the kill but I see Tommy pulling out this one and making Coetzee quit.

I'm going Tommy because of his speed and power. If the fight goes past 9 all bets are off.

 

Coetzee would walk him onto something.

To be fair the draw vs a prime Thomas was very legit and a good performance.

Coetzee also destroyed L.Spinks in 1 round who was still a top 10 Heavyweight at that time.

Weaver had very good staying power in regards to going deep into fights.

Morrison was known to gas in fights so I don't think he would be able to replicate Weavers performance.

Coetzee also should've had a win over Snipes but was robbed.

I'm slightly more impressed with Coetzee’s performances against still relevant fighters compared to Morrison.

For example you bring up Williams but he was considerably past his best his best days were in the 1980s.

Coetzee wouldn't of struggled vs someone as limited as Hipp.

Coetzee also wouldn't of got starched by Bentt in 60 seconds.

I'm going with Coetzee I think he's a bit more proven.
