Yes and fractured C1 vertebra can also be fatal too. I assume and hope his fracture is a more a minor one and he will make a full recovery but I'm only basing that on how he looked in the ring when he regained consciousness and when they announced the decision so I could be completely wrong

If it does, then the only silver lining is that it would on such a large platform that we might finally see an end to these influencer boxing matches.

Shits gotten way out of hand. Even bare knuckle boxing has been brought back. Many obviously dont think much about it, but I have watched plenty of BKFC cards to start worrying about their athletes. I swear there are at least 3x as many knockdowns in BKFC than any regular boxing card, and every card sees at least 70% of fights end via T/KO. Boxing gloves were invented for the right reasons, but it looks like we are mere decades away from headbutts being a regular staple of some combat sports league.

I didn't see the fight, but if he was up and walking after the KO he should be good as far as paralysis goes, hopefully. Brain bleed is a big concern. Hopefully he recovers 100%. Hate hearing news like this.

It's the sheer greed of the ABC's governing bodies that are going to eventually get the sport barred and forced underground ,
Thankfully the fight was staged in a country with first world medical facilities and hopefully they got him to the hospital up on the gold coast within the ' Golden Hour ' as that hour is crucial in determining the level of recovery from such injuries . Best of luck to Huseyin keep battling warrior .

I hope those guys calling Cinkara a cab driver and bum feel like dickheads right now.

All the best champ and I hope he makes a full recovery (though I hope he never fights again).

The shift to gloves happened so long ago people see BK like a quirky renaissance fair sort of thing. Opposed to something that stopped happening for very valid reasons.

He put forth a valiant effort, especially for an old man with osteoporosis.:sisi1 So I hope he makes a full recovery and he probably will. He was moving after the fight, so I'm more concerned with the bleed than I am the neck fracture.

Which in all likelihood occurred due to the whiplash effect of his neck hitting and bouncing off the ropes.

And now he can't go back to his full-time day job. Ridiculous overmatching. Not the first time this has happened with Opetaia.

Cinkara is fine. Neither the neck nor the bleed on the brain (described as minor) require any surgery. He was meant to be discharged from hospital today. He’s been active on his social media. Good news all round.

I've been watching BKFC too. It's wild. Way more KD's, nearly every fight ends via KO or TKO. Once saw a dude fighting with an ankle monitor on :duh

I watched a bkfc card recently with one of the fighters an ex boxer- I recognised the name but thought he’d had to retire from boxing due to injury-googled to refresh my memory and sure enough stopped from boxing because of an abnormal brain scan-but now fighting bare knuckle! These guys sometimes need saving from themselves

The worst thing I've seen recently is 'Power Slap' .... how the **** can that be justified as a 'sport' ?

Lol I showed some Power Slap videos to My young 9 and 11 grandsons and they thought they were hilarious like 3 Stooges. My daughter was pissed.

    The women slapping is crazy.

Its a predatory sport because it can only attract the most vulnerable, those who have been essentially rejected by other combat sports.
Austin Trout is doing really well in BKFC, but lets face it, the only reason he moved there is because his boxing career died and BKFC pay is enough to entice him.
Most of their combatants are former boxers and MMA guys. Of course there are the occasional "fresh" combatants who primarily are tied to BKFC due to their limited exposure to other professional combat sports. But all of these guys will have short careers in BKFC, there is newer going to be a BKFC prospect who turns into a veteran champion, they will burn out before that.
And thats why its a predatory sport - it will never be able to build up talent from the ground. Majority of their fighters, especially top talent, will be those who are at a point where they cant compete in other orgs or earn as much as they would in BKFC.
