When I saw the thread title I genuinely thought, ‘WTF has Daniel done now?’ For a second I was ready to believe his team (father / Sam Jones) had managed to sabotage things again… then I clicked and realised it was Caroline. You should be banned for that IFL-/Parsons-style clickbait. Seriously though, good for Caroline. She’ll probably get a lot more momentum under Jake Paul than she ever would sitting on the sidelines with Shalom – assuming Jake survives the whole AJ circus.
If MVP can sign up all the female boxers and put them on a platform i dont watch, then I think they will be my favorite promoter.
Yes, I am very much in favour of all the female boxers being on MVP and having their own female only cards behind a paywall.
Agree with the female boxing cards being on a platform I don't watch or can avoid. Sadly with Sky when they started pushing female boxing non stop with that Welsh bird Price and the one she was with, I actually couldn't care less they stopped broadcasting boxing.
Only paywall women’s boxing needs is OnlyFans – Ebanie’s already banked a million plus, the Misfits lot are rinsing it, fair play. Outside of a genuine handful, the standard is dog****. Growing up, I saw more skill and heart watching the women on the estate leather each other over their kids, deadbeat fathers or whatever. No other sport has a gap this big between men and women. Stick the lot on a platform the rest of us will never watch, and everyone’s happy. If Joey Barton had been a boxer instead of a footballer, he’d be doing proper bird by now, Cat A, locked up with Bronson, not walking away with a suspended sentence. Woke police would’ve buried him years ago.
Are all these TV executives and promotors and managers seeing something that us male boxing fans are not seeing? When you have someone like Clarissa Shields who is apparantly undisputed in 12 different weight divisions, why are none of these TV executives asking questions as to how good the quality actually is? How are they actually able to raise money for events and get paid as female boxers knowing full well, they should be at home in the kitchen not masquerading around as boxers. This is what happens when you have woke TV executives throwing money around like confetti. It's given women a false sense of achievement. They actually think their boxing is worthwhile. The whole world has gone bonkers.
The problem isn’t that women’s boxing is bad, full stop – the true elite like Claressa Shields, Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano, and the old-school names such as Lucia Rijker and Christy Martin are genuinely world-class. The issue is the enormous quality gap underneath them. Below that top handful, you get fighters who’ve jumped in because the market opened up and the opportunities grew quickly. Ebanie Bridges is the modern textbook example: came in without the deep amateur background, built a huge personal brand (very much in the Mia St. John mould), won a world title and made serious money. Fair play to her for maximising it, but it’s a completely different route from the one the top men have to take. Marketability first, boxing second, has become the blueprint for a lot of the division. It pays the bills and works brilliantly in crossover or influencer-style shows, but it doesn’t do much for the sport’s long-term credibility. Personally I struggle watching women absorb clean head shots (grew up around domestic violence, so it hits different for me), yet even I can admit the standard at the very top felt higher years ago when the talent pool was tiny and heavily gatekept. Now the dominant business model is “big Instagram/OnlyFans following first, boxing ability a distant second”, and the overall product suffers. And because aggressively pushing women’s boxing is basically compulsory for promoters and broadcasters these days (call it the industry’s woke box-ticking exercise if you want), a lot of these cards get far more exposure and investment than the actual in-ring quality justifies. Ben Shalom could have filled his entire BBC deal with women’s-only shows and they’d probably have handed him a special award for “services to equality in sport” before the opening bell even rang.
Shalom, a couple of weeks ago on one of the YouTube channels, while still walking on eggshells around the subject said he understands women’s boxing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, he said that TV executives and sponsors increasingly demand women’s boxing on shows otherwise the are not interested. It’s pretty clear across all sectors now, not just boxing that they’d rather push their far left woketard ideology than actually make money.
Except iI believe t's the other way around. Hearn wouldn't be promoting Katie Taylor unless there was good money in it. He's barely touched women's boxing outside of that (he got lucky with Courtenay and Bridges having a social media set-to). For him it's similar to misfits style boxing; he promoted KSI once and after years of saying he wouldn't again, he's in with Jake Paul. Shalom is promoting women because his broadcasters demand it. No broadcasters, no promotion. If you mean TV executives need it, they only really do what advertisers or shareholders want.
