    Round 1 Vaca 10-9

Vaca outjabbed him and landed some combos late. Popoca with some decent rights to the body.

Cardenas landed the best shot, but not much else.

    1-0 Vaca

Matronymic. His father's surname is Popoca; his mom's is Cárdenas. So his legal full name is Arturo Popoca Cárdenas, just as MAB is actually Marco Antonio Barrera Tapia (with Antonio being his middle name, Barrera his dad's last name and Tapia his mom's) but to make it easier on foreigners Mexicans usually drop the mother's to shorten it for their professional name. Like how we always say Julio César Chávez Sr. or Julio César Chávez Jr. instead of Julio César Chávez González or Julio César Chávez Carrasco.

(technically, according to classical European rules, JCC Jr. is ineligible to call himself a Junior - as your whole name is supposed to match identically)

    Round 1 Vaca 10-9
    Round 2 Vaca 10-9

Vaca is the faster of the two. Also defensively sound. Outworked him.

I assumed that was the case, but he isn't listed as such on Boxrec. WHen they usually do, instead they list it as his alias inexplicably.

    Round 1 Vaca 10-9
    Round 2 Vaca 10-9
    Round 3 Vaca 10-9

Closer round, but the uppercuts and left hooks from Vaca nicks it for me.

Yeah whenever I see that kind of separate Latin surname discrepancy on their BoxRec or Wikipedia or Tapology page, I always just try both iterations together in either order (Popoca Cárdenas or Cárdenas Popoca) to see if any hits come up matching DOB.

    Round 1 Vaca 10-9
    Round 2 Vaca 10-9
    Round 3 Vaca 10-9
    Round 4 Popoca 10-9

Even though Vaca finished stronger, Popoca got too much work done early on.
