If he gets in the ring with AJ he's no longer a fraud. That's old school levels of heart. But AJ becomes the bigger fraud by magnitudes.
I've never seen a top 20ish super heavyweight face a journeyman lightheavy and be praised for it before.

Nonsense. AJ has proven himself in the sport. Jake Paul is a con man who lost to Tommy Fury and has beaten a succession of hand-picked soft touches. He doesn’t belong in the same ring as Joshua and we will see that later.

 

Half the people you encounter on here dont have brains mate. Get 50x your money for doing the exact same job but easier, absolutely mental. Same people who would crucify him regardless of the opponent he was facing tonight.

Hes got no belt, not even close to getting a title shot, coming off a 1 year lay off after being planted on his head in a heavy KO loss. this guy made the offer to him not the other way around and hes somehow getting the stick for it, couldnt write it.

Any crazy kid celebrity who can eat his way above 200 pounds is suitable opponent for a heavyweight top 20 fighter? As long as they bring viewers.

Is AJ Glass Jawed? Yes. Is he mentally weak? Yes. Does he have a low Ring IQ? Sure. I can’t stand him but he’s far from the biggest fraud. He did what Fury couldn’t do which was savagely KO a Glass Jawed MMA fighter pretending to be a Boxer and he’s about to do the same to a YouTuber pretending to be a fighter. By your standards it’s Fury that’s the actual fraud not AJ.

 

No brainer in a way, true. But as a fan I am disgusted with what matchup the boxing industry presents us here. And Joshua is part of that. And it's justified to be pissed about it.

1. For many Joshua had the aura of a spokesman and representative of boxing for a long time - you just can't have that going for you and not expect a backlash for justifying the most viral youtuber in circus boxing.

2. Money is a reason to do it, but nothing fans should care about. I care about what fights are on. Fans should also complain about the late mayweather pacquiao match, even though it would have earned a lot less if it happened in their primes.

3. If Joshua fought a random cruiser it would at least be based on the boxing credentials. 'i want a cruiser with x record to look good'. It would be in terms of boxing. This is in terms of entertainment and attention and money. Fans are right to hate this aspect of boxing when it gives us bad fights or circus fights.

And i find it a good thing that boxers indulging in those things pay a price in losing the love of their supporters.

4. I'm all for the boxers investing their bodies in making us see great matchups getting payed handsomely. Boxing needs incentives, too. There are too many boxers who leave the sport poor, which is a shame. But a 300 millionaire doesn't fall in that category. I will forever be amazed by cristiano ronaldo sitting like a puppy next to the sheik for whatever money. He is unbelievably rich and yet walks around like he is a trophy of someone else. Integrity?

5. Personally I assume the uproar would be quite big if Joshua just chose a random cruiser. He was criticized harshly for most of his opponents all the time. I wasn't his biggest fan, but he was presented with so many cherry pick and old man accusations, a cruiser would have not gone down smoothly with the boxing public.

6. I don't want boxing to be a circus. I don't want there to be these incentives. Boxing is not WWE. I don't want mexicans and japanese who give their all to this sports and fight their heart out earn 500 bucks a fight while these circus clowns earn 50 Million. Obviously unrealistic, but I will encourage anyone that shares this opinion publicly in our little self help circle forum for disappointed boxing enthusiasts!

 

I cant allow Ngannou to be called Glass jawed lol. Ive watched that guy take some heavy artillery to the mandible over the years and he couldnt be moved.

 

It's not a great look to call an Olympic gold medallist and two time heavyweight champion of the world a fraud.

Presumably if there's a no KO clause in the contract, every betting outlet that is allowing people to bet on a KO outcome is 1) breaking the law 2) exposing themselves to massive legal and reputational risk.

 

Look at opetaia struggling to get the other champions to fight him. There are reasons to hate the money aspect of boxing. If it was run like an actual sport, opetaia would be undisputed.

Opetaia should get the greatest reputation and atrention yet hardly gets any. He fought through a badly broken jaw for two rounds for gods sakes! People complain about 'runners' and then invite haney again and again to their events, but opetaia has to fight third row?
