He's not ducking anyone at 175 of course, or any 'mandatories' in any weight class.

But I would say he is somewhat ducking Canelo if he doesn't rematch.
It's a bit of a 'take my ball and go home situation.'

Yes, there's no obligation to rematch technically but it's assumed in this kind of fight you would do a few if it's a competitive fight and given the money on offer and they all love money, not doing that rematch suggests he's avoiding the risk of losing the rematch.

It's similar to the Conor/Khabib fight where Khabib left a fortune behind not to rematch, it was the biggest fight in MMA, and it was obvious he didn't want to risk losing, since though he won, it was the first time he'd lost a round and he fought quite scared in the beginning too.

Everyone is acting like 'Bud' did it easy. If it was so easy, why not double up your money then. 'Easy work', right? It's obviously not what he thinks. He's worried Canelo changes something up in the rematch and gets him. And I think the rematch could well be a different fight.

Crawford could beat Buatsi or Yarde, but the elite in that division is just a step or two far and Crawford knows this.

Ennis hasn’t really got a great record. Bar his very flattering 34-0.

Crawford made an announcement. It was reported and shared all over social media because THAT'S NEWS. Regardless of people's personal hatred of him for some of the most goofy reasons, he was a big name in the sport and accomplished a lot. Many people were speculating and even making up news about what his next move will be. Who he's going to fight next. What weight class he'll drop down to. Some even were trying to hope and pray he would fight certain fighters that Crawford clearly have zero connection with beyond them all having the same profession. Crawford made an announcement so that his followers, distractors, fans, media, etc... would understand what his 'next move' is. There's nothing negative about that unless someone actually wants to make it negative.

And even if Crawford was the type to want to be celebrated and have it every that he's done, so what... Of all people, wouldn't he deserve it. 14 world titles. 4 Lineal Championships, 2 Fighter of the Year Awards, 2 ESPY Awards, victories of 14 world champions, UNDISPUTED in 3 different divisions....... If you are a BOXING FAN, there is nothing wrong with saying goodbye and thank you for you service/entertainment to a warrior like that.

The real question is, why does him being celebrated bother you?

I agree with you on the Canelo rematch to some extent. I wouldn't call it a duck, since there was no controversy with his win, but it was close enough for a rematch to be interesting imo and it certainly would bring a lot of money, so I was definitely expecting it to happen.

I still wouldn't write it off. This time Crawford has a much better bargaining position and would probably bring home more than last time due to a better split. That's a lot of money for anyone to walk away from for a fight where he'd be the favourite. And in the end money tends to talk the loudest.

We've all seen hundreds of title fights go without a rematch. TC beat Canelo in a convincing and clear manner. Didn't need a rematch.

That is the most illogical statement in this discussion. It makes ZERO sense. Because he's undefeated, he was never tested.....He's undefeated because of his work ethic, his IQ, is measurements, his style, his mentality, etc.....His opponents couldn't match his abilities. THAT'S WHY he's undefeated.

By your logic, I guess everyone who graduated with a 4.0 gpa didn't learn anything because they were never tested. Because until they actually fail a course, they haven't really learned anything. Getting a 4.0 couldn't be because they applied themselves as a student by listening, taking notes, studying, doing their own research, etc...... 4.0 is simply given to all those who aren't tested.

That statement is laughable at best.

Smart move in my opinion even tho I'd give him a good chance against a few of em

It really doesn’t, as I stated, I don’t believe Crawford has done it like that yet. So it wasn’t really a dig at Crawford specifically, more boxers in general.

i don’t lose sleep over it, however it seems to have annoyed you more than me so I will try to explain.

so now focusing on Crawford andin the hypothetical situation that Crawford is “the type to want to be celebrated and have it every that he's done” I’m not saying he doesn’t have that right, it’s a free world obviously he can, just like I have the freedom to criticise it and find it not befitting of world class warrior.

I just personally find it unbefitting to fish for praise, it’s one of my biggest dislikes of fury.
As a fan of boxing all my life, I like to see fighters fight. I guess I am old school but this attention and praise seeking from fighters is a bit feminine.

also, to add, it’s not like Crawford has fought or beat even half the guys we wished he did. For such strong stats you gave, it’s a shame the only big names on his record was a Canelo and an end of road Spence. TC may have been undisputed in 4 weight classes but he’s not really cleared them out or paid his dues.
Crawford is similar to calzaghe…usyk is an example of someone who generally Carrie’s himself like an old school champ and cleared out cruiser and a good run of the top guys at heavy but I still criticise him and hope he defends against more ppl rather than the same 3 styles of aj, tf and ddd

He cleared out 140; it was a woeful division at the time, but he still cleared it out.

You don't lose sleep over it, but it has annoyed me?........lol.... So I'm annoyed because I addressed the ignorance in your statement? Nice try kid. That silly rebuttal didn't even work in the school yard during recess. Try again.

Point blank, Crawford made his announcement because he wanted to make his announcement for his fans/followers and whoever else keeps tabs on him for various reasons. He didn't do a campaign for praise.... the information is circulating because he's a big deal. Big enough deal for people like you to hate the fact that others are praising him.

Don't try to blame it on being "old school" because I'm far from being considered a young man and I think your logic is silly especially being that I saw fighters in the 60s and 70s announce their retirement. You claiming it's a bit feminine because they are "praise seeking" is a goofy statement. What you think the purpose of a Hall of Fame is?

People announce retirements all the time. Not just in sports, but at any job where they feel they have put in enough time, effort, etc...and they have no more to give. Someone wanting to be appreciated for their blood sweat and tears they put into their craft is justified. It's respect. Especially for these fighters who have/are putting their health and lives on the line every time they step in ring to entertain a bunch of bi polar fans who love them while their up and ridicule them when they are down.

There's nothing more feminine than jealously of one man to another. Which is all you statement is showcasing to me. I don't see you jump in other threads about Loma who also announced his retirement this year. GGG unofficially hinted to it earlier this year as well. There were threads about each, yet, I'm willing to bet I can go through each page of those thread and not one comment of you suggesting that it was feminine that they are 'seeking praise'......

Crawford's accolades are earned. Period. It's sad that someone like you who claim to be a veteran boxing fan, still has the mindset of a new age Man Fan in suggesting that Crawford should be discredited because he didn't fight who you wanted him to fight.... Crawford fought the best in the divisions he competed in. I mean if you actually knew what a Lineal Champion is....then you'd understand that. And Crawford had that status in 4 different divisions. I'll ask you the question that's often ignored by these new found boxing fans when trying to discredit Crawford.....

Who is it at 135lbs that Crawford should have fought that would satisfy you to 'approve' his praise in that division?
    -What about 140lbs? 147lbs?
-154lbs/168lbs happened at the end of his career and he only made that jump for a specific opponent, but you can throw out names for that as well if you like.

Madrimov never got a rematch even though he was the champ and Crawford was the challenger, he gave Crawford a shot at his belts in Crawford's country, the fight was very close and controversial, and he is one of the few genuine KO artists and legit punchers, especially ones his size, Crawford has fought. When you fight KO artists and legit bangers your size, especially world class ones and world champs, you're crossing a minefield

Usyk gave the way bigger AJ, Belly (yes he is a big puncher especially given how power is magnified when you're way bigger and heavier than your opponents) and Dubois and he did so on a deck heavily stacked against him, stacked against him or at best an even one not in his backyard.

He had to navigate his way across those minefields x 6 not x 3 and 2 vs massive punching KO artists way bigger than him.

Crossing a minefield x 2 obviously greatly increases your risk of stepping on a mine and losing a limb or getting blown to Kingdom Come.

Madrimov actually deserved his rematch neither AJ, Belly or Dubois deserved theirs but Usyk has no fear of crossing minefields and he has been doing continuously for almost a decade facing savage or big punchers
