Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua vs. Jake Joseph Paul - Judgement Day, Dec 19th - Discussion Thread.

I was thinking before it started I don’t mind if either of them gets knocked unconscious since that’s the game. I just wouldn’t want anything worse than that for any fighter even if Paul is unlikable for many reasons he still has respect the same as anyone getting into a ring to fight, especially against a ridiculous opponent like Joshua relative to his size and experience in the sport. The irony is because he seems to have a decent chin on him and has that unhinged energy he took way more punches than was necessary and likely will in future if he goes up against fighters beyond his skill level which will surely occur on the reputation of those six rounds. It was ‘fun’ but that guy definitely left some pieces of himself in there even if he doesn’t realize yet.

Paul was prepared to run around the ring, not box. When he lost his strength, he took every opportunity to gain some breathing space. He would lie down after missed punches and pretend something was wrong with him.
When he finally slowed down and Joshua could finally catch him, it all quickly ended with a beautiful right.
It's hard to blame anyone here. You could criticize Paul for running backwards, but if he'd chosen a different tactic, it would have ended much sooner.
Joshua, on the other hand, did everything he could to land shots. He could have just as easily stood in the middle of the ring and waited for the smaller fighter to initiate something, just imagine how tragic that would have looked.
A big guy standing in the middle of the ring and a kid doing circles a meter away, throwing jabs in the air...
Only the referee could have, and had the right, to point out to Paul much sooner that he was in a boxing ring, not a stadium or a track. But he only did it when a frustrated Joshua started fouling.
Maybe he didn't, because during that whole rabbit chase, Paul even landed a few punches – it's hard not to, considering Joshua was focusing most of his attention on finally catching him.
Not many fighters would have done it faster against Paul in a ring like that.
And you're right. It's good that Paul didn't suffer any more damage, even though he lacked the pure daze and problems after clean punches, which, besides AJ's haters, the entire boxing community was probably hoping for.

 

Lol, Jake's legit got better ring IQ and feet than AJ. Jake even caught him a few times with the jab and right hand.

He's got a better chin than Ngannou too.

 

Latest is that his Jaw is broken.

 

Not only this but what does it say about this whole era of heavyweight boxing that Jake Paul actually was able to land more punches and do better/have more success against AJ than Otto Wallin

 

If Jake had a better gas tank and landed 3-4 more of those right hands the glass chin could've been "Andy Ruiz'd" again.

Jake caught the dosser with quite a few jabs that snapped his head back too.

 

Ya'll need to stop embarrassing yourselves. Jake got the biggest ring possible, ran for his life from the opening bell, attempted 50 double leg takedowns, faked lowblows, and still got his jaw broken in two places.

AJ just got paid eight figures to have an easy tuneup after being out of the ring for over a year. And your boy Fury is probably still too chicken-**** to fight him. Just chirping on social media because that's all he's good for these days. Oh, and whining about how he really beat Usyk twice and was robbed yada yada yada.

 

I actually had Jake Paul up after a couple of rounds. Joshu'as tactics were just abysmal, at least Jake Paul actually bothered to have a real game plan that he was trying to go out there and execute. Joshua was just walking forward and swinging. There was no tactical turning point, no kind of strategic adjustment switch from Joshua either. I have to assume if Paul never gets tired the whole fight just continues the same way and goes to the cards and honestly a win not out of the question.

 

Was going ok until AJ got sick of his taunting and decided to cave his face in.

AJ could have taken him out any time he wanted to.

 

Jake displayed decent foot work, ring IQ, head movement and a philly shell guard. It was quite spot on what Jake said before the fight, that he's got better boxing skills than AJ.

But clinching a much bigger man and moving that much took its toll by round 5, and Jake was just basically there to be served up for the dosser.

AJ should be embarrassed for seeing this as a "win", considering he also got cracked a few times by Jake too.... and also for loading up his last shot like that on a much smaller man who was completeley spent.

No he couldn't. His body language was that of frustration after the first round.

 

They looked very evenly matched the first four rounds, making him miss and not being bullied in the clinch.

Weirdly, I have seen much more criticism of tiny novice Jake Paul than big bad former unified champion AJ. We live in a world full of spastics. aliens, please help me and take me far, far away from this land of spastics.

90+% of comments (not here but on social media platforms) seem to be mocking or denigrating Jake... A much smaller and inexperienced dude who had the balls to step in and risk his life against a powerpunching heavyweight unit.

It's so insane I cam't even fathom it...
