Just watched the highlights now. That may have been legit. Paul looked bigger and tougher than I've seen him before and he actually moved pretty well. I think he was just trying to survive the fight and it is pretty hard to flatten a guy that just wants to see the end. Also I think all the training is not fake. He took some useful punches before crumbling and he's clearly "boxing fit". He might actually be as good as your average journeyman now.
And that's the other thing. AJ looked "ok" but not particularly fast or gritty. I think he knew he was going to get the KO and was kind of cruising along.
People have really unrealistic expectations here man. I guarantee all of you, if Paul fought Ali the way he did against AJ tonight he'd last the distance. Real life isn't a video game, there aren't "power levels" in which a novice fighter like Paul immediately gets disintegrated when he stands in the same ring with a world champion. Paul is 200+ lbs, 27 years old, on copious amounts of roids and can actually punch. If nothing else he has a puncher's chance, you can't just treat him as a little brother and let your guard down no matter who you are. It's REALLY hard to pin down a guy that is smaller, faster and only fights to survive. Jake was literally running around AJ at times and shooting single leg takedowns whenever AJ came at him. AJ wasn't holding back nor was the match fixed, he was just waiting and letting Paul gas himself out, the instant Paul slowed down and could no longer run around AJ broke his jaw and stopped him instantly.
If he literally ran away from Ali and dived for his legs whenever Ali came close then yeah, absolutely.
So he’d last the distance with Ali but can’t go 6 with AJ? He wasn’t even running the whole time, he was right there to be hit several times in the first round.
The match was 8 rounds, and Ali isn't as aggressive as AJ nor hits anywhere near as hard. Brother he was literally wrestling more than he was boxing. People get DQ'd for far less. I'm just saying man KO'ing somebody is much, MUCH harder than you guys think if they are looking to merely survive.
I forgot it was 8 rounds to be fair. I don’t believe Paul legitimately lasted that long, if his jaw is broken AJ could have broken his Jaw or worse in any of the rounds if he wanted to. Paul is a decent boxer, in relative terms, but he’s being talked about as a heavyweight Willie Pep here.
Holy ****, it really didn't look like he got hit that hard, but his bottom left row of molars and biscupids got uprooted like a section of fence hit by a truck: This content is protected
Watch the whole fight. It was a farce. AJ was so obviously carrying Paul that it was laughable. Cornering him and practically directing him how to escape, throwing shots that missed by a foot even though Paul had no head movement and little offense, generally keeping the cuffs on while his opponent presented a dizzying array of openings. AJ was acting for whatever allotted number of rounds was agreed upon. Then he threw a few punches and Jake got a broken mandible for his troubles.
Oh please Jake Paul was backing up into corners with zero stamina or defense lets stop acting like AJ was boxing some masterclass out there and it wasn't Jake Paul himself who knocked himself out. I even had Paul up after a couple rounds and he was tagging and knocking Joshua's head back with shots. Absolutely destroyed any H2H or ATG talk about Anthony Joshua FOREVER ITS OVER
Absolutely not AJ was was absolutely trying and not holding back and this clip clearly shows that JAKE PAUL VS ANTHONY JOSHUA RINGSIDE HIGHLIGHTS They were clearly trading leather. Not only that Jake Paul GOT THE BEST OF JOSHUA ON SEVERAL EXCHANGES
