Usyk ain’t fighting Jake Paul. He has too much respect for the sport.

 

Just got up and watched it without spoilers. Paul ran for 6 rounds and AJ followed him around. As soon as Paul wanted to engage he got nailed. Nothing fishy going on.

 

Yeah responding to some pseudo-intellectual post about mechanics and how hard the punch looked oh wow what a smoking gun. I just think this whole rational skeptic shtick of yours towards boxing is kind of cringe. You're hitting people with the flat earther pejorative for claiming that Joshua carried Paul and held back some. For years you mocked the claim that judges and refs were corrupt. Just observations.

 

What we're overlooking is that Paul is a boxer like no other in history - he's got no more talent than a six round journeyman but what he has got is the wealth that gives him access to elite-level training. That coupled to a game plan that consisted of running, holding and falling down must have made him hard for Joshua to figure out. There may have been some unwritten agreement to carry him a few rounds but we'll never know. If he'd been an unheralded easy opponent we'd have said Joshua looked poor but got a few rounds in and then did the job.

Mate, arguing with people who have said from the start that this was a fixed fight is like arguing with flat earthers. You could show them the contract for the fight and a recording of every conversation that has taken place between the teams and they'd still tell you it was rigged.

 

What is he going to do, literally throw arm punches until round x and they both go to prison or get no money ?

 

The fight wasn't rigged. Paul went for survival and a rusty and somewhat tense AJ had trouble finding the openings. Paul did a good job of spoiling, though, and showed some decent defensive manuveurs. He's had quality sparring after all in Sanchez and Anderson. And maybe the ref should have stepped in sooner concerning Paul ducking down and running into a clinch.

I give Paul credit for this, though. He kept getting up and I think it's good that he quit when he did.

AJ did not look great, but it's a bit hard to asses against such tactics in a fight where anything except KO1 is seen as a let down. A tune-up against a top 20-30 HW and then Fury would be great imo.

 

Joshua showed real granite chin there, some of those shots Jake landed would have laid out many a heavyweight.

 

He'd be wise to carefully cherry-pick that "top 20-30 HW". Anyone decent with any kind of power is likely to knock his head off, and ruin the Fury fight (if that's realistic) which would still sell big.
The same goes for Fury, perhaps to a lesser or greater extent. A 'tune up' could finish him. Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou were Fury 'tune ups' .

Maybe AJ should 'tune up' against Logan Paul, and Fury should 'tune up' against Andrew Tate or Bonnie Blue or something .....

 

if that punch that folded his teeth had landed on the temple, jake might be on a ventilator right now. there was no loss of momentum when it connected. the ability of the head to swivel with the shot prevented worse damage.
