Bum dosser he may be but I can’t get away from seeing him pull some of his punches, only he really knows how much snap he had on any of them, it’s not really that hard to throw a hard punch but take most of the real meat off it especially for a former heavyweight champion

I thought it was legit just an ugly track meet, wrestling match. If the ref penalized clinching the fight would have been over a lot sooner but I give Paul credit for survival and continuing to get up

AJ seemed like he was just biding his time and tiring Paul out. Started getting rougher in the clinches as the fight went on.

 

Nah, the keyboard warriors need something to complain about to make them feel good about themselves.

 

I admit to being a bit impressed with Paul. He kept coming back.

there have been plenty of betting scandals in baseball and basketball especially after the legalization of gambling. normally it involves a few individual players doing something to effect a prop bet. Its hard to rig a game with 9 or 11 other guys out there trying to win but certain important players can do enough on the margins to change the spread or a prop bet.

I don't really think much of boxing is rigged. I just felt there was a good chance last night's fight was not going to be a real fight

The fight was imho not rigged from a juristical point of view . Jake had the true intention to win and gave all he has . Aj had also the intention to win but acted in a way to not hurt jake more than needed , what he probably could .

The result is as expected so no betting user can shout he was betrayed .

From a technical point of view it was a show and not a fight . Aj punched with only little force and hold fire where he could deliver. The ko was real but also not executed with full force.

 

Obviously you wouldn't 'script' a whole fight. You don't need to. You could just spar a lot with each other beforehand and learn to read each other's tells. Then throw with 40-50% and closely miss a lot of swinging shots. To make it extra save you make the punches short and the opponent only has to move back a little in order to make it look good.

To put a cherry on top you have the weakling move a lot and pretend a massive ex world champion is unable to cut the ring. The champion also only throws reaching jabs for significant timeframes.

This downtime also helps mental recovery to stay sharp for the next 'engagement'.

It would basically be theatrical sparring. It would contain a certain danger too, but every sparring session also does. It wouldn't be the danger of a novice facing a world champion in a higher weight class.

Admittedly, its totally possible that joshua just didn't want to hurt paul too badly. but he could have achieved that way quicker and with more dominance.

As it is it is actually not only a bad thibg that people take this seriously. Anyone putting their legacy into such a fight and then going 6 rounds with a youtuber should be out of any conversation about spokesmen for the sport and greats and whatnot. Joshua naysayers will from now until forever have ammunition. Doesn't matter if they think it was scripted or incompetence. The Implication is almost the same.

 

I don’t think the knockout punch was full force either, I’m not saying it might not kill me or an average non boxer, but it’s didn’t look anything like some of the huge right Hands I’ve seen Joshua throw

 

You can’t officially contract that though, that’s rigging the fight and is straight up fraud-I absolutely agree though that was the “script” but it wasn’t official, these amounts of money can make people agree to things they usually wouldn’t it’s as simple as that! Gentleman’s agreement that it goes a few rounds imo

You could see Joshua had chances when in range and didn’t take them, he also pulled punches and at times was doing some strange stuff, shadow boxing & throwing strange punches way out of range without trying to get close-these are things that he just doesn’t do normally so yeh imo a fix/fake but just not an official/contracted one

 

I genuinely believe that AJ simply wasn't skilled enough to get him out of there sooner. Imagine that AJ against anyone in the top ten now.

 

For sure it was legit. Paul was running around the ring like a track athelete and AJ was never good at cutting the ring to being with, not to mention being shot 36 year old after 15 months of inactivity. As soon as Paul tired, AJ got to him and stopped him.
