    Ability
Neither has a loss, doesn’t this have to be more or less a tie? May has the blatant robberies to stay that way though..

    Resume
Mayweather by a fair distance overall

    Wins
I might argue Rock has the better half a dozen wins that we both just put forward

    Accomplishments
Rock was a career heavy who started late, he beat everyone he fought like May did.

    Longevity
    Mayweather

    it’s still close

Less controversy ? Marciano arguably lost the 1st fight to Roland LaStarza.

And early in Marciano's career he arguably lost to journeyman Ted Lowry.

26 world wins compared to 8 with a much more vast resume they're not close.

But then apply context and look at the specific versions of those guys that he fought.

    Their age.

    Their mileage.

Still less controversy, no clauses, catchweights, May arguably lost to a shot older Oscar. And Castillo 1 should not be debatable.
Marciano never ran away from an opponent like May did.
Mayweather started earlier than Marciano, Sanchez is a legend and isn’t knocked for winning relatively few title fights.

How on earth can their ability be a tie??

Floyd was one of the most skilled fighters of all time.

    He was a technician.

Rocky overpowered people. He wore them down. He didn’t out box people. He didn’t out skill them. He was a freight train.

Now he deserves huge respect. But, no, being undefeated doesn’t put them level.

    Floyd was far more skilled.

He was simply on another level altogether.

    It’s not even remotely close.

How has Rocky got half a dozen better wins??

    Who??

    It’s not close.

    Ability - Floyd
    Resume - Floyd
    Accomplishments Floyd
    Longevity - Floyd

    Oscar wasn’t shot.

    Faded. But not shot.

Sanchez had great ability and great ATG wins.

He was not one of the most skilled fighters of all time.

How can Marciano just be a roughhouser with tiny arms and short height and go undefeated? He was closer to being a technician than Mayweather is being one of the most skilled of all time.

I already said the Charles, Walcott and Moore wins.

Mayweather has much better longevity and longer resume. Thats not everything though.

What’s your ranking of all the fighters in the thread and I’ll tell you why you’re wrong

Do you really think that you’re being objective here, when you say:

    “Mosley was old”

    “Moore was still great”

    Ha!

Archie was in his 40’s, with 180 fights on his resume.

    Oscar wasn’t shot.

    How was Cotto only average?

    WTF are you talking about??

Mosley never won a major title again and won 3 more fights.

Moore was a light heavyweight champion for years and won about 40 fights.

Cotto was ok, one of Floyd’s better wins

Floyd was absolutely one of the most skilled fighters of all time.

    He had impeccable skills.

    He was a technician.

    How did Rocky go undefeated?

He went undefeated because he fought in one of the weakest eras in history, where his best competition was against guys who’d been prime at lower weight classes, who’d had a ton of mileage.

Rocky was younger. Fresher. He was stronger and more powerful.

He overpowered guys like Moore and Charles, who’d been prime at MW-LHW, back in the days of 8 divisions.

    Again, Rocky deserves credit.

But he wasn’t better than Moore and Charles. He just beat them both on youth and strength. They couldn’t keep him off of them.

Let me tell you two things which should be obvious:

    1. Neither Moore or Charles would have had a run at HW in a modern era, with 17 weight classes.

    2. Rocky would never have retired undefeated, had he have fought great, prime HW’s in stronger eras.

You’re not going to tell me why I’m wrong. You can’t even be objective here.

You’re saying that Shane Mosley was old, yet completely ignoring the fact that Archie was in his 40’s, where he’d fought almost 200 fights.

Mosley was top 10 P4P coming off his best performance in years vs Margarito.

ODLH was coming off a dominant performance vs Mayorga.

    We know that about Shane.

    I agree.

    He was old and faded.

But I was highlighting your lack of objectivity.

You can’t call one old, whilst ignoring the fact that the other guy was older, with about 4 x as many fights.

Cotto wasn’t just an okay win.

And if he was, then what value would the rest of Rocky’s resume hold??

If Cotto was just average, what would that make Roland etc?

I don’t think Rocky would go undefeated in a different era, just as Mayweather wouldn’t go undefeated in other eras, he didn’t have the killers like Duran or Robinson to fight like Marciano didn’t have Ali or Foreman.

I don’t care that Moore was 40, he was far better than Mosley was when Floyd fought him

Wlad has the longest reign and second most title fight wins at heavy, does that make him the heavyweight goat using your logic for Floyd ?
