Saw the first post on X, @Serge provided the other two. This is appalling behavior, and should lead to an immediate investigation of long time scumbag judge and terrible ref Victor Loughlin. Because not only the response, but his scorecard as well, as you can see below. It was a nip and tuck affair, that he almost had a shutout in Simpson's favor. Also, while they're at it, investigate the ref as well, who seemed like he was willing to let Troy Williamson literally beat the A-side hometown fighter to death and why? Because he was told by the promoters they wanted Simpson to win by any means necessary? Did he really think he could come back from 3 violent knockdowns? This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Here's the Legal Upload of the Full Fight, watch the last round, some of the most appalling referring I've ever seen. Almost seems like he had a **** ton of money on Simpson. It's around 29 minutes and 30 seconds in. This content is protected
Reminds me of Pride in Japan, where they would let the Japanese fighters get nearly beaten to death before stopping the fights in the hopes they could pull a miracle win out of the hat. I don't want to derail the thread, but go watch Vovchanchyn vs Inoue to see one example of what I mean.
That fight was a perfect illustration of the corruption in British boxing officiating. Extremely wrong scorecards of 88-84, 87-84, 86-85 (this one plausible) to Simpson, when it was Williamson who was ahead. The referee allowing Simpson a hellacious beating in hopes he would somehow survive to benefit from a robbery. This was the absolute polar opposite of a British stoppage. If it was Troy on the receiving end, then he'd be stopped shortly after the first knockdown. The judge disconsolate, head in hands, after the man he was supporting gets dropped, knowing that if his man loses, then his corruption will be exposed.
Great catch by all, especially the judge who looks absolutely distraught when Simpson is dropped and puts his head in his hands and looks like he mouths "oh no". Not sure how it works over there for corruption investigations but this needs to be escalated it's so blatant
I just saw it. Wow. Inoue literally collapsed on his way back to the ring at the end of the round, having to be held up after taking a beating on his back. He took way too many punches flush to the head and face.
The only possible explanation, outside of corruption that is, is he was appalled by the ref not stopping the fight sooner. But his scorecard, having Simpson way ahead in a fight Williamson should've been ahead in on all 3 judge's cards, and his reputation preceding him make it hard to give him the benefit of the doubt
That's actually what I was thinking, as he reffed Eubank Jr - Nick Blackwell and maybe another fight where permanent injuries were had. He's actually my favourite ref, to be honest but his judging is obviously pretty ****ed up.
All sports are rigged to an extent through officiating. Sports with judging are all just a tiny step above wrasslin. It is fairly blatant in most every sport if you watch objectively. The fact gambling is by far the biggest advertiser for most sports and even owns a lot of the regional broadcasts Should tell people something.
