I feel this is extremely accurate. Not that he had to fight absolutely everyone, but he has a few too many misses to be just coincidence. I think you hit the nail on the head, knowing he could've faced better comp and done more for his legacy , but chose money instead, hurts his atg standing. I can't say I blame him, and all fighters do this to some degree, but when he became the A side it got a little out of hand.

Corrales, Gatti, DLH and Cotto were all in the top 3 at the weight, I think. Think Berto and Mitchell might have been ranked, but not sure.

Berto wasn’t, but a lot of the “unranked” guys were ranked by sanctioning bodies. It’s crazy how it took almost five years for such a bad post to be corrected.

Repeating some things I’ve said in another thread..
He was one of the best of a weak era
Caveats for many of his fights
    Protected fighter
    Nepotism/favouritism
Would not favour him over the best 2 or 3 lightweights or 2 or 3 welters in most eras.
Arrogant *****, I shouldn’t but i can’t help but think less of him because attitude.
He’d be lucky to be in the top ten of lightweights or welters.
‘But he dominated so many world champions across different weights’ Pacquaio won in more weight classes, and probably had a slightly better prime run as well, and I think Floyd is much the better fighter.
Floyd is the fighter who’s legend is furthest away from his actual ability.

Floyd thinks he’s Emma Watson but he’s closer to princess Eugenie

Although the odds for Mayweather vs Corrales fluctuated in the days & weeks leading up to the fight, Mayweather was a 6-5 favorite when they stepped into the ring.

Does that somehow discredit the quality of Floyd’s win?

    No - it doesn't.

I reckon it to be Floyd's best and most dominant fight over a proper opponent that could've tested him ... on paper at least.

The Diego that stepped into the ring that night didn't appear to be mentally primed to face Floyd but even if that's true, so what, Floyd absolutely brushed him.

I could see him being top 50 dependent on how far you back

I'm sold on Floyd. his accomplishments are legendary. He OWNED the 2000s!. Honestly, he made the public forget Ray Leonard and won more money than any other fighter in history. Still dont have him ranked as high as Robinson or Greb though

Not singlehandedly. Manny was right there too, especially if we're extending things into the 2010s.
