Who should be chosen? I think it should be Naoya Inoue. One fight a year (Bivol, Crawford and Usyk) is not enough. Honorable mention to Bam Bam Ramirez and Fabio Wardley.
1 Opetaia - for the highlight reel KO's and activity. 2 Wardley 3 Benavidez mentions: Crawford, Bivol, Ball, Ennis
If Crawford or Usyk had had a rematch, even a slightly easier one, it would have been them. As it stands, Inoue deserves the title. Four fights, two of them against boxers ranked in Ring Magazine's top 10.
One win is not enough for "fighter of the year", might as well start calling it "best win of the year" if you gave it to Crawford. My vote goes to the obvious winner.
Who care who ring magazine gives it to. They lost all credibility when de La Hoya owned it and now turkey
It's obviously Crawford. Moved up two divisions, really three divisions, and becomes undisputed SMW champion. I don't think another fighter had a greater accomplishment in 2025
I was in the they should probably give it to Crawford camp but should they really give it to a fighter who has fought once in a year and then retired before the end of the year? They'd be giving it to an inactive fighter and Clenelo gave him a shot at all 4 of his belts in Crawford's country with a home ref and 3 home judges, just like Madrimov did with his belt to Crawford albeit one of the judges being from a neutral country, and neither Clenelo or Madrimov received a rematch. I think Jake deserves it for his historic event win vs the way bigger and more experienced AJ who is not a shot ginger oompa loomp like Clenelo
