Refusing to fight a prospect who hasn't beaten a non-shot gatekeeper yet is not a duck - Itauma isn't worthy of title shots yet... If he lives up to the hype he will be, but if that's going to be before Usyk retires then he needs to get on with proving it.

There’s always someone else coming through, there is a case he should fight the young hot shot who looks like he has the substance behind the hype but has yet to prove himself worthy of being considered a tough test. He went through Whyte like a knife through butter, but what has Whyte done lately? If he takes someone else out in the top 20 you can start taking it more seriously. I think he’s facing Franklin next. Wardley has done much more and deserves a shot before him and actually got his hands on a belt. He is 20 and making waves but nothing like what kid dynamite was he was a phenomenon so they can stop with that comparison, it doesn’t help him.

 

He's only 20. Does he really want all that smoke so early on in his career. He can build his reputation up along with experience for the next 3-4 years then start going after the belts and big money fights. Yeah, he somewhat popular, but what's the rush.

That’s the way the game works unfortunately. We all know Wilder is well past it but it’s still two big names and Usyk will go off into the sunset saying he beat every top top heavyweight (Fury, AJ & Wilder) of his era.
