I don't see why you'd have Bud higher. You'd either have to really overrate Spence and Canelo, be on the recency bias juice or really value his weight jumping and being undefeated. I'd take the win over Hill over the win over Canelo for sure; and Bud has no other win as good as beating Benitez or Duran. Id probably rate Pipino as a better than basically all of Crawford's wins outside of Spence & Canelo too. I suppose there's the Barkley losses but I can't see why losses to a bad match-up who's obviously bigger is enough to overcome such an obvious resume difference.

Pipino is overrated, Hearns has a better resume but Crawford has a ridiculous legacy on paper

Are you defining legacy purely on the achievements on paper - or versus what actually he had to do and who he had to do it against to get there?

In my mind, he has two brilliant wins on paper - Spence was a shell and the more that I think about it, the less he should've been in the ring, and Canelo, given his last few years was just right for Bud to face. After that, the quality of opponent at the time he fought them seems to take a bit of a nosedive drop.

He beat everyone he could. Unified 2 divisions and schooled Canelo as an older man moving up. Crawford wouldn't lose to Barkley

Is Porter a nosedive drop from Spence? Spence is the better, and certainly more significant, win, but I don't see huge daylight between them.

2 fights before he fought Crawford, Porter pushed a pre car crash Spence all the way in an SD loss that could be scored either way (I had it 114-113 to Spence iirc).

Clearly Porter is no ATG, but neither Spence, nor Brook or Thurman, could clearly separate themselves from him, whist his wins over Garcia, Ugas, Broner and Berto are decent. Porter, a MW in the amateurs, is a respectable KO win for a former LW champion, imo.

I can’t see how Terence can be ranked higher than Floyd and Tommy.

Crawford also wouldn't KO Duran and Cuevas in such fashion either.

The quality of the men he fought is highly questionable - Spence was finished and Canelo had the wear and tear of GGG.

I can't help but reiterate that IMO, Bud moving up is overblown as he is naturally a larger man than the weights he campaigned at.

You can only beat the people available to you at the time, but some would say that he let Spence clear up most of the division and then beat a considerably lesser version of Spence.

Bud is a great fighter - his overall résumé is comparatively poor against those who he will inevitably be compared to.

Cuevas and Duran both were slipping all over the place , the canvas was sabotaged and Hearns had mini crampons on his boots, it’s the biggest conspiracy of our sport.
And Hearns tried to quit against Minchillo

    It’s an interesting debate.

Personally, I can’t see Terence above Hearns.

Porter isn't a nosedive but tomaytoes tomartoes.

If you count Porter, let's say he has three solid wins - what else then?

I think Bud is a H2H problem but his résumé is underwhelming considering his on paper achievements. I'm not sure how this can be debated, when you look at the records of other fighters who've taken on everyone that was available and fought a much higher level of average opponent.

You’ve no idea what he’d have done against Barkley at MW.

He barely beat Madramov at JMW.
