Brook and Khan were names but not much else when Crawford faced them.

Spence had had some of his better wins after the car crash, so he was still a legit top fighter at the weight. But there would be fewer question marks if the fight came before the crash, yes. A shame it didn't.

I could give it to Terence, if Khan, Brook and Spence were prime, because it would have made his resume that much deeper.

 

Better resume, as in opposition regardless of results? Clearly Hearns.

Better win resume? I suspect Hearns just edges it, but I'll need to thoroughly analyse Crawford's career in a few years, assuming he remains retired, to be confident of that.

Who will I rank higher? I have SRL #17, Mayweather #18 and Hearns around #40 (I'm out so can neither check my notes nor recall the exact number) p4p, all time. Crawford's numbers are inferior to Mayweather in most areas and after their respective single best win, Floyd's superior quality in depth quickly becomes apparent, so I'm confident I'll have Crawford comfortably behind Mayweather. I'm not certain where I'll rank him relative to Hearns.

As mentioned, I suspect Hearns has a marginally better win resume. Crawford's superior dominance may offset that when I come to rank him p4p all time. I expect they'll be close on both counts.

I prefer to stick to facts than speculation when evaluating the quality of wins from an historical perspective. Spence was #1 at WW and an unbeaten, unified champion. I don’t see any evidence of regression, in either results or performances, between his car crash and the Crawford fight. Equally I think #6 p4p flattered him. Even at the time I didn't see him as quite that good. He was a very good, but not great fighter, imo. Roughly equal to Cuevas.

 

Only ATG Hearns beat was Duran at 154

He doesn't have that many great wins himself

It's more being the first 5 weight champion but Crawford also has that and 3x undisputed and not as many bad moments like the KO loss to Iran Barkley
