Peak De La Hoya Versus Peak Crawford

To be fair I think ODLH did perform very well in most of his big fights it's just Crawford hasn't had anywhere near the amount of challenging opponents that ODLH had.

Let's review some of ODLH's biggest fights.

Chavez = Chavez was past his prime but still good and ODLH dominated him twice.

Whitaker = Whitaker was also past his prime but still good yes not the best performance from ODLH but that was due to Whitaker being one of the most tricky fighters ever.

Tito = ODLH schooled him for 9 rounds yes he fought too cautiously in the last few rounds but still most people believe ODLH deserved the nod.

Quartey = Very brave performance from ODLH pulled it out with a memorable 12th round rally.

Vargas = Again another brave performance from ODLH pulling it out with a late stoppage after being behind in the early going.

Mosley 1 = Both fighters fought a great fight but Mosley was just a little bit better on the night.

Mosley 2 = Widely considered a robbery I scored it 8-4 for ODLH.

Hopkins = ODLH was competitive but he was facing an ATG Middleweight in his prime and he didn't belong in this weightclass.

Mayweather = ODLH was a bit past his prime fighting against an ATG near enough in his prime it was good performance from ODLH its just Mayweather was a bit better on the night.

So again I do think ODLH rose to the occasion in alot of his big fights it's just the competition he was fighting was very good.

Put Crawford in against the same opponents and he would struggle immensely aswell.

I really hate how most people's here analysis is just fighter A beat these guys who were better then who fighter B beat therefore fighter A would beat fighter B. No analysis of their respective skills or how they would match up skill wise just relying on boxing rec as their source for who would win. Pure intellectual laziness imo.

You have implied that people are biased/ignorant for giving their predictions without much detail, based upon their assumptions of who fought who etc, their level of competition.

Yet you then like a post that states that Oscar wouldn’t have had much chance of winning, and could get knocked out.

There’s nothing wrong with predicting a win for Terence.

However, he has not fought the great competition that Oscar did.

He has fought nobody who was great and in their primes, and he has done absolutely nothing for anyone to believe that he could have stopped Oscar.

Yeah, he gave a breakdown. Great. But it has to be realistic and logical before you like it.

Oscar very underrated on here,has fought a lot better fighters than Crawford has.That fact doesn`t necessarily means he wins but i feel he would prevail on his way to a win on points

I’m just baffled as to why you think that Oscar would have had little chance, where you think a stoppage loss was realistic.

I love both of those guys.

But Terence has done nothing for you to think that a stoppage win would have been realistic.

Crawford is getting so much love for beating who?
Alvarez? He's severely overrated, was past his prime when he faced Crawford, and at a time he should've been in his prime, he was schooled by May Jr. In a fight he may have won two rds.
Benavides?
Fighting on one leg, after being shot prior to his fight with Crawford. He clearly moved like a fighter with limited mobility. Yet he had his moments against him.
Spence?
Coming off a major car accident. Clearly wasn't that special prior to the car accident, worse after it.
Porter?
Nothing special and that simple.
Personally, I have doubts Crawford beating a few of Hoya's victims like Gonzalez, Hernandez, Ruelas, Vargas, and especially Quartey.
Different era's and different levels of competition.
In my opinion Hoya beats Crawford convincingly prime vs prime. Hell Hoya beat better opponents than Crawford is.

 

Picking the modern fighter in every scenario also constitutes intellectual laziness.
