"and has the best resume in boxing"

I don't think this is close to accurate.

It'd be quicker to go the other way and say who doesn't have a better resume then Usyk? Hes 8-0 at HW and has lost 30 rounds. Lets not pretend this is a great resume it really isn't.

You’re a troll, if it’s that easy start naming guys with a better resume. Literally every boxer has insane respect for Usyk. From Inoue to Shakur.

He started at cruiser, though, so you are using a completely false and contrived metric. He is 13-0 on title fights, 11 against fellow titlists. And Chisora is a good 14th fight as a two-time title contender who has been a factor at heavy for 15 years. It is a FANTASTIC resume by any standards.

Losing rounds has nothing to do with resume. And of those 30 rounds he supposedly lost, he might have actually lost half. But again, it doesn't matter, because you are reaching to come up with irrelevant things to say to knock him down a few notches.

Since when did losing rounds become part of a fighters over all resume??

    That's a wild take

How many HWs in the history of the sport have won a HW world title fight at Usyk's age or older?

The answer is 3 and in 7 weeks time that will be 2 and one of those 2 retired from the sport for a decade and the other for 4 years and all 3 were natural HW 240-250lb + HWs/KO artists with extremely high KO% who did not rely on speed, reflexes, reaction times, and agility like Usyk did and the all fought numerous or many soft touches at Usyk's age, older or younger

For the umpteenth time. Usyk was 4 months shy of turning 35 when he won his 1st HW title (s) and his reign at HW was impacted by his country being invaded and his tenure at HW also by Covid and during his reign he has fought nothing but champs or top contenders sans once which was his mandatory and he fought them all in their backyards or on the road and they are all way bigger than him and all younger or much younger than him

As for him losing as many rounds as he did at HW argument which we all know he didn't lose as many as the haters claim. Er. he doesn't have the privilege of being from the US where their best get to fight at home on a deck stacked in their favour almost all the time when facing foreigners with the obligatory home ref and three home judges and he's facing opponents who are way bigger than him with huge physical advantages over him when already past his prime

The fact he became HW champion and undisputed at almost 35-37 y/o and is still winning in a division full of giants way bigger than him at 38 y/o vs much younger and bigger savage punching opponents in their backyards with zero home refs and judges is highly impressive and extremely rare

Let's compare Usyk to the best US boxer of this era Crawford

Crawford has fought 41 of his 42 fights in his home country with 51 of 60 potential judges in his world title fights coming from the US, 8 from neutral countries, and only 1 from his opponent's country

With US refs for all his fights

Usyk has had 0 home refs in all his fights at the world level and a whopping 2 home country judges COMBINED in all those fights and never fought in his home country once in any of them

I like Usyk, and believe he is a head to head nightmare for most. But to call his record fantastic, particularly at heavyweight, is wholly inaccurate. But then, the same can be said for many great fighters. They can only beat who is about at the time. Usyk cleared up the end of a weak era. If you think Fury, AJ and Dubois are great heavyweights, elite fighters, then sure, rank him highly. But they are not. And Del, loveable rogue that he pretends to be, holds a great record of having lost to every big name he fought...

    1. He has beaten the defining two heavies between Klitschko and himself four times. He has defined his era.

    2. I specifically corrected HistoryZero26 for ignoring his cruiserweight accomplishment.

His record is beyond fantastic...it's about as good as it can be for the era he fought in.

No worries man, we are in agreement. He could not have done any better with the opposition available, and he is, for me, a H2H great, but the level of his opposition is what holds him back as they themselves were not 'elite' fighters in the way Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Duran, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns etc were for each other. To be an ATG, you have to have wins over ATG for me...and yet, I do believe Usyk competes against ATG fighters and I rate other fighters without such wins even higher...but if we take Ali's record, beating Foreman and Frazier as fantastic we surely can't compare beating the three stooges and another guy, can we?

Thanks for your thoughtful reply man, peace and love, Px

For the record, I am aware 'my' metric is faintly ridiculous as there are many more champs like Usyk who fought in eras where they were 'stand alone' than ones who regularly battled for hegemony amongst similarly talented fighters, but hey, I'm a faintly ridiculous guy!!

And I agree, but those are some pretty unique sets of fighters, no?

I would say, for example, that it compares favorably to the 90s. You had Lennox, who I love but occasionally lost to second-raters, Holy who compiled a magnificent set of wins but also blew hot and cold, Bowe who was a one-hit wonder, and post-prison Tyson, who was terrible, they didn't even all fight each other, with Lennox's big wins coming after Holy was past it and Tyson shot. It was a fun era, and those guys were great, but nothing anyone did there compares with Usyk coming in and derailing Joshua and Fury.

It never ceases to amaze me how easily people are willing to out themselves as casuals, when their principle motivating factor is hatred of certain fighters. Granted, you and I have been guilty of this at times as well, but at least we're willing to lay out in great detail what it is that frustrates us with fighters that are highly ranked by others, while acknowledging the skillset of the fighter we dislike or is overrated. So it's not sheer blind hatred.

I can’t tell if it’s hatred or just trolling.
