Holyfield never got caught using peds. If the era didn’t punish peds, other will have possibly been doing the same. I’m sure Mike Tyson admitted he had taken peds back then too. So, you’re not gaining as much of an advantage.

alternatively, Tyson fury did get caught using peds in an era where there is stricter testing. So we know fury seeks an advantage over his opponent, even if illegal.

He maximized what he could have done. If PEDs didn't exist, he'd probably have just ruled the CW division for a long time and not moved to HW.

Evan Fields was caught up in the BALCO scandal, named in legal papers, had the same address as Holyfield, had the same date of birth as Holyfield and when they rang the number on the paperwork Holyfield himself answered the phone. The papers also show he had ordered other steroids as well as the HGH .

At the end of the day... Is this really that sad?

It depends what you expect him to do, and how you expect him to fare.

If he's going to help test and prove the next generation (for better or worse) then he might help establish the next era - that's worthwhile regardless of what it does to his legacy, which is shaky and admittedly didn't necessarily have to be.

If he's just going to fight some low level guys, or guys who are just as shot as he is... And get lots of attention without looking that good?
    That would be bad.

Sad end to a sad career is poetic justice.

Remember though the efforts that Holyfield has made to track down Evan Field. No man could've done more.

Saw a video of him hitting the heavybag today....He put a tiny bit of power on a right hand and had to step away from the bag and shake his elbow out because it's obvoiusly hurting given his joints are completely gone, very evident that he's started throwing punches differently to aid his shot elbows for the last 5 years...

Could he still box AJ off to a decision? yes...but that's about it.

He had them delivered to his house. It's worse than being "caught." Test results can be ambiguous. There is nothing ambiguous about signing for HGH.

Lance Armstrong DID fail a test. The UCI was able to get a retroactive TUE in order to keep the burgeoning cancer survivor “Tour of Redemption” narrative going.

For a second I thought this was about Joshua who just fought...JAKE PAUL and went on about how another HW has to stop ducking him.

Well it's not like joshua fought any young talents once he had his three (!) titles. He preferred fighters who had already made their names like povetkin and pulev.

It's rather how the business works that determines the fights. Hard to pin it on fury however annoying his antics can be

Even looking at usyk - does he fight kabayel or wardley or does he exclusively fight established brits? Mostly Twice. (To be fair two rematch clauses i think)
