Fury is in a position where he needs to start dropping down a level with opposition or face losing to an inferior fighter like Wardley. AJ is perfect...Wardley and Dubious are better and more dangerous than AJ at this point but have no extra value in terms of sellability. Can Fury beat them? Yeah sure but should he bother with them? No.

Wardley and Dubious would fight Fury like he's an old man and give no respect to his power which could turn rough for him. AJ is a different fish, he is mentally fragile.

Power is normally the equaliser an aging fighter can rely on to get out of trouble. Fury won't have that benefit, he has to rely on his mental sickness and a pair of aging legs to win points decisions.

 

I’d be (pleasantly) surprised to see this match up as Fury’s immediate comeback fight, it would be very dangerous after over a year out the ring to go straight back into a world title fight against a huge puncher

 

The issue is Fury has done nothing to deserve a title shot. His last real win was nearly 4 years ago.

When Fury steps into the ring against Wardley, or anyone, and the bell rings, that's one thing.
Until then, probably BS after BS.

 

Had plenty of time slapping his face off sparring so if he takes that fight then he must be confident...your plodding bums like Wardley, dubious and AJ are no match for Fury at capacity

A decade of substance abuse, binge eating, and dipping his toe in and out of the sport, we've seen this playbook unravel dozens of times with ex-champions. Wardley is not some unbeatable megastar of the sport, but it's a horrible fight for Fury; he won't be able to hurt Wardley, he will be pushed out of his comfort zone by him, and he could get pretty badly beaten, not to mention he turns 38 this year.

I think the next time Fury fights, he is going to be completely washed up, so hopefully he takes a tune-up fight, realizes he doesn't have it anymore, and then retires. Wardley is a bad idea, and I would be surprised to see it happen.
